I'm watching Cash Cab...

There are two women playing, and the one in the answer seat called her dad for a question. Ben asked his name... "Jay Levey" (no idea how it's spelled though). She looks like she could be related to him, and she's about the right age. They ended up getting that one wrong, haha.

...random.

The song Al did backing vocals for on Songs for Silverman, "Time," is included. I really like the second video on the page, "Army" (although it's censored).
I heard about that from one of the tenors in my a cappella group. The group he used to be a part of submitted for it, but didn't make it. I'm kinda mad about some of the selections... there are so many great college groups that should have made it. But hey, Rochester is on there, so Ben did something right :D

An interview with Peter Tork of The Monkees (Al opened for them in 1987) will be broadcast on The Lost 45s radio show on Sunday, March 22nd. You can listen to the live streaming broadcast right here. Just click on "Listen Live now" in the upper right corner. The show airs from 7pm to Midnight, Eastern Time.

Here is what Barry Scott said about the upcoming interview in a recent email update:

This week our guest is Peter Tork, of The Monkees, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

In this rare interview, find out details about Monkees hits and shuddabeens, his interesting life, regrets and current projects!

Hear a few fun stories about the group, their TV show and Peter's friendships with Stephen Stills and Jimi Hendrix.

Peter will discuss hits like "Last Train To Clarksville," "Daydream Believer," "Words," "Valleri" and "I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone."

You'll also find out a rare fact about The Monkees and The Archies!

Plus, a 1976 Yearbook and a box set of artists saved from being one hit wonders, by having a second and final Top 40 hit! We’ve got rarities from Mama Cass, Elton, John, Nick Lowe and Lionel Richie, among others!

Next Week, 3/29: "Weird Al" Yankovic hosts our annual April Fool's show, featuring comedy and novelty tunes!

I like that last part the best! :D

I was looking through the web site of George Weber, a former news reporter on a radio station I used to listen to, and came across this picture.

Image
George, at 24, interviews Weird Al Yankovic for KIMN in Denver.

The caption would place the picture around 1985. Sadly, this morning, I heard on the radio that George had been murdered over the weekend. :( I know "pal" might be stretching it here, but the young George looks so happy to be interviewing Al, and Al looks so happy to be there. Obviously this encounter made a big impression on George to reference it on his website 20 years later, and I found some comfort, that someone who I enjoyed listening to on my morning drive for many years, was also a fan of Al.

Sorry to hear that, Dave. He does look happy in that picture.

RIP, George.

:(
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!
