My son used to do tattoos, and he told me to tell you to make sure you go to a place that pays attention to the age restrictions. And check the place out beforehand. Two easy ways to make sure it's a reputable (clean and safe) place to have them done. Done right, they can be beautiful. Done wrong, you'll wish you'd never had the idea in the first place. Good luck! (For the record, I don't have any, but the thought has crossed my mind.)
Hmmm...something's gone horribly awry here...

I agree you have to be careful. Ive been told by someone who has many never to get them done at night. I think because that is their prime time and they are rushed so the job doesnt come out as well. Also a lot of the better tattoo artists are available in the daytime.
Thats when i plan to get mine. Im going to this really clean place bout 10 minutes from home which is very well known. I have designed on al tattoo which i like, but still want to design a few more. It has become my relaxation time at night to design a few al tattoos while listening or watching weird al yankovic. No no, im not obsessed. Not at al.

I kind of get put off the idea all together whenever I pass Venice Beach- there must be about 50 tattoo parlours just along the boardwalk, all of which are filthy, stinky, and will tattoo anybody with enough money! I will have to thoroughly research it before I have anything done, though. Anyway, what am I talking about? I've got 8 years to worry about such things!

Remember, it's permanent. And what looks good on a twenty something hardbody will someday be on a flabby, gravity weary old body. That perky little butterfly on your bellybutton will look a whole lot different when you're 50 something. Take a good look at an old tatoo sometime.
And yeah. Make an informed and hygienic decision.

That sounds perfect!!!! Not to big, but very meaningful..... I remember one time when my friends and I were making up this cheesy video for ACS, I played "the girlfriend/cousin" and my friend drew a tattoo on my shoulder with black liquid eyeliner that was just a heart with an arrow through it with "AL" written inside it. It was pretty-ful! Oh, and of course, there was that family crest on my thigh....but that's another story!
