For my fellow collectors and completists out there, it looks as if "UHF" has been seized by that new trend in the DVD market, "double features."
In its "Double Feature" series, MGM and Fox have paired "UHF" up with, of all movies, "Dodgeball," I assume because both deal with the concept of underdogs. This is a two-disc set, and as far as I can tell "UHF" retains all the special features of the original DVD release (while "Dodgeball" is only in full screen...yikes!).
Meanwhile, "UHF" has also been included on, bear with me on this, a two-pack of Fox and MGM's new "Triple Feature" DVDs, which is a bundle of two of the so-called DVDs each containing three different movies (these kind of releases are usually two-disc sets), meaning you end up with six films in all. "UHF" appears on the same DVD as "Bio-Dome" (I know, I know) and "Dirty Work," while the other DVD contains "Airheads," "The Ringer," and "Freddy Got Fingered." I don't know whether or not the "UHF"/etc. DVD is available separately or if it is only available in this "six-pack." On this release, "UHF" has no special features, but the packaging does claim that it has both aspect ratios of the movie, so there might be some heavy compressing done to put both on the disc.
I found both of these releases at Target on sale, and a quick search indicates that these are either really, really brand new or are exclusive to the chain, as no other information was available online. The two-pack was $7.49, while the six-pack was $14.99.
Of course, the best thing to do is buy the original "UHF" DVD, since it's still in print and still cheaper than either of these options depending on where you shop, but for those of you who have to buy everything with Al's face on it, here you go.

I've seen this at Target, but I never took a really close look at it. Are you sure that this isn't just the basic UHF disc and they just didn't list the special features for space reasons? It seems more like a "Let's get rid of some excess stock" release and not something they would press new discs exclusively for. But I don't know that for sure, and seeing as I already have UHF and have no interest in the other five movies, I'm not gonna buy it just to find out...CatraDhtem @ November 14, 2008 12:16 am wrote: On this release, "UHF" has no special features, but the packaging does claim that it has both aspect ratios of the movie, so there might be some heavy compressing done to put both on the disc.

It's certainly possible, and I don't know the exact make-up of the discs without actually cracking mine open (which I'm not going to do unless I get another copy), but the norm for these sort of double and triple feature releases has been to just contain the movies and little else on newly created discs. They're usually intended more to be like budget releases for those who just want movies as opposed to individual special editions with all the bells and whistles.anthontherun @ November 14, 2008 06:44 pm wrote: Are you sure that this isn't just the basic UHF disc and they just didn't list the special features for space reasons? If anything, your question is probably truer for the two-pack with "Dodgeball," since it is claiming to list all the special features. The back of the package for the triple feature, meanwhile, is cramped, but there's definitely room to list features alongside the listed specs for the movie itself. I'm just saying it would be odd if they included special features, which really only exist for the format as a selling tool, but not make any mention of it anywhere on the packaging.
But who knows.
