No there was never a full video for Lasagna. What you see on the DVD for each of those videos is what was shown on TWAS, except the TV screen border was removed.

Well, I took a bunch of piccys of him.....apart from that, he's still alive and well so far. I'm considering buying some of those little crystal things you mentioned though. My friends and family have no idea why this vegetable is of so much value to me - they all think I'm nuts..... but I should be used to that by now.

Since there was no video for Couch Potato, I think it would have been nice to include the Kilborn performance. Also Yoda from The Weird Al Show (which was mentioned allready). But that didnt happen. :(

I think it would have been even better to include a concert performance intercut with story boards from what would have been the CP video, all set to the music of CP....

I GOT IT! I love it. I watching it right now.. Sorry, I thought this DVD was a lot better then the other one. I like the Extras, and the photo gallary. I dident really pay much attention to the videos because I have seen all of them, but it was nice to have them all on one DVD, and the easter egg was cool I have never seen that before.

*sigh*

I don't mean to sound like a wet blanket here, but I'm a little disappointed. Don't misunderstand me -- I have the 1996 WAY Video Collection already, yet I still bought The Ultimate Collection the day it came out. I mean, yes ... having the Tom Snyder clip and the Cal Poly Bologna clip and the 4 minivideos from TWAS was nice. But ... there wasn't much else there.

I mean, the photo gallery and subtitles were nice, and yes, I know, the 1996 Videos DVD is long out of print. But let's face it ... the only video not on any other collection but this one was "Bob". I really would have rathered that Al waited a little till Album #12 or #13 came out ... then we'd have more new videos and more time to compile [what I was REALLLLLY hoping for] a full commentary track on all the videos -- like on UHF and on the videos for TSB and IAATP from WAY Live!.

And I have an even greater concern owing to the timing of this release. Now that this compilation has been published, we're not likely to get any new compilations with any new videos from Album #12 or beyond anytime soon. Most likely we'll have to wait till nearly 2010 for any new compilation. Or even worse ... as MTV and VH1 move more away from videos and more to inexpensive reality TV shows and "Greatest Anything" compilations, the release of new video material to parody is getting scarce. And let's face it ... the artists themselves are getting so full of their own self-importance that fewer seem likely to allow Al to do parodies of their material -- as is already being evidenced [thanks again, Coolio and Em ... <_< ].

Take all this together, and think ... Could this all mean -- *gasp* -- [cue terrifying organ music here] -- these could be Al's LAST VIDEOS EVER?!??!?

My gut feeling is that Al wanted to release this simply because the fans were clamoring for a video collection. Admittedly, he's garnered many more fans in the time since the last collection was released in 1996 -- most of whom haven't seen these videos before [which is easily corroborated by several of the responses on this very thread]. And as much as Al hates cheesy compilations, the fact is that the original WAY Video Collection DVD is out of print and is going for a minimum of $35.00 on eBay. So it's very possible Al just made this for the fans ... and if that is the real motivation behind its release, then God bless 'im!

But ... doesn't the above make you wonder? ............

Given the changes in the Biz, I think it may not be impossible that there won't be any more videos. I would hate for that to be true. Based on what Bermuda said in the latest chat, it sounds like there was only ever going to be one video for PH. If Volcano/Zomba/Jive thinks they can sell without a video, there may be no more.

But as a new fan, I am very pleased with TUVC. I had not seen all the videos before. I am pleased that the older ones were cleaned up, and the overall quality is wonderful.

The bonus material, and the easter egg were worth the price of admission. Sure I would have loved a commentary track, but given the promotional nightmare PH must have been for Al, I'm willing to cut him a little slack.
