I'm just getting home from this show and it was AWESOME!! I got some nice pics which I will post later on. I'm late on posting my other concert pics due to being without power for most of the past week... but trust me they will come!
You're gonna take a walk in the rain and you're gonna get wet... I predict.

Yup, the Journal-Register did have a good review. Sounds like the quality of the show, the demographics, and peoples' enjoyment of it was everything they could expect of it. So... a good crowd but not a sellout. I wonder whether they did sell enough tickets to break even, or more than break even.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

As of the newspaper article last Sunday, Al's show had to sell 500 more tickets to break even. At that point the tickets sold were nearly 2,600. I think they sold way more than that and should have made the fair money on that concert. Here's last week's article in case anyone cares (and I do not work for the newspaper; I just want to share the info about Al's show compared to other acts at the fair :Y ):+2008 Illinois State Fair Granstand Lineup

I may have a chance to see the State Fair Manager in the future and I will suggest to her to bring back Al next year if he's available if I do see her.

Again, great show and I hope to see them play again.

It's not likely Al will be touring next year. The current tour is the 2nd leg of last year.
This means something. This is important.

Thanks for posting that, mrmichael. Great article.

Go, Fred!

:great:
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Great article and congrats to Fred on the recognition. We sat next to her in the front row for her birthday show in Wildwood, NJ back in 2000. Got to see the last van too.

Thank you for posting that article. I gives quite an insight. What a difference between performers and their "requirements".
