Aww--so sorry we won't get to see you and meet your girlfriend, but that summer job sounds AWESOME! Keep us updated throughout the summer if you can spare a few minutes every so often. Congrats!

I got into tiown in plenty of time for this one, thank goodness. Good Thai dinner with some of the Usual Suspects before the show, and good concert. If a half-concert is still worth it (reference Henderson) a whole concert is just totally worth it. Very pretty Art Deco theater with a serious sound system; we wound up in the third balcony (that was where GA could sit down; the second balcony was GA standing only) and the bass was making the floor shake. It's fun to get the bird's-eye view of a concert from time to time. Al was being pretty interactive with the audience, although the person in whose face he stuck the mike during the Yoda chorus didn't exactly make the most of his or her opportunity for a solo.
Sixteen kinds of donuts and a false re-start during Albuquerque-- and did I hear him call Zelda "sucrose asparagus" or was it just hard to hear correctly from the balcony?
I hope by now the venue cleaning staff has forgiven Al for all those red and white paper streamers he left hanging from their lighting rig.
And, for the cherry on the top of the sundae, a bus-side M&G afterward.

"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Thanks for the report. Helen. Glad you were able to see the whole show this time! Sounds like a nice theatre. Also, great that there was a M&G!
I saw Al from the balcony at the Potter Center in 2004. It was kinda cool to see the concert from there.

4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

I'm glad you finally got to see a whole show too! I'm going to be in the balcony section at the Richmond show--at 5'3" standing only floor concerts don't really work for me since more than likely, someone taller than me is going to blocking the view unless I'm right up at the stage. Plus my mom is coming with me and I doubt she's going to want to stand for over 2 hours. I figure the balcony will give me a great opportunity to get some shots of the whole stage and Al with the band. The camera has 12x optical zoom too so maybe I can get some decent individual shots of Al and the guys too.
Congrats on the meet and greet too! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one in Richmond and/or Columbus.
