I'm not sure if there was a thread like this, but here's the idea. In this thread, we will discuss how we came to be Al fans, such as the first Al song you ever heard, where you heard it, the first Al CD/tape/record you ever bought, and when you officially became a fan. You can add your own little subtopics if you wish.
Here's my story. The first Al song I ever heard was "Amish Paradise". During that time, my sister was a huge fan of "Gangsta's Paradise", and we were watching MTV. All of a sudden, the video for Amish Paradise came on. The music starting playing, and my sister said, "Hey look, it's Gangsta's...Hey, wait a second. What is this?". That's when my life changed forever. The next day, we were in a store, and we stumbled upon Bad Hair Day. From that day forward, I was hooked.
Okay, I was over at my friend's house. I was about 8 years old. She put some guy named "Weirdy ally anchor-ville" or something like that in the CD player. I had NO idea what it was. It was "Amish Paradise." Of course, I was only 8, so I had no idea what a parody was, much less had ever heard of "Gangsta's Paradise." I eventually found out his name was "Weird Al" Yankovic, and my friend played me a large percentage of Bad Hair Day. I heard Amish Paradise, Everything You Know is Wrong, Alternative Polka, Since You've Been Gone, I'm So Sick of You, Larry, Phony Calls, and Night Santa Went Crazy. I loved it. So I bought CDs until I eventually got them all.
The first CD I got was "Greatest Hits." Then I got Alapalooza for Easter, I bought The Food Album, then my friend's brother gave me Even Worse (he didn't like it very much, so he gave it to me), Off the Deep End, In 3-D, and Dare to be Stupid were given to me as gifts, I bought GH2 and the TV Album, my grandma bought me Polka Party, I FINALLY bought Bad Hair Day, I got RWS on the release date, I got the debut album for Christmas when I was in 4th grade, I bought the UHF soundtrack off the net, then I got Poodle Hat, and I recently got Permanent Record as a birthday gift. WHOO! I remember the CDs in the order I got em!
Now all that's left is Peter and the Wolf and then I can say I have all the CDs...
Well, my story is that I heard Al on Radio Disney. Iheard Yoda and I was hooked.... for about a couple months. then I was over a friend of a friend's house and he had Running with Sicssors. Then I got Running With Sicssors and Bad Hair Day. OMA! i can't believe that once I pronounced his name as.... CH!! AIEEEE!!! -runs around- -shudders- I then found the WAY Live DVD at Best Buy along with Even Worse. then for Christmas that same year, I got all his CDs and the Videos on DVD. Then, i became semi-obsesed, then I went to the OC Fair and my life changed for the better. It was then when I became the hardcore fan I am today!

It all began long, long ago... I was about 5, I believe, when I first heard Yoda. I loved the song, but truly didn't think much of it. Every once in a while, you may have heard me sing it, and I once even got the lyrics memorized. For a long while it stayed this way. Then one late night of 1999, my brother was lying in his room with his girlfriend, tuned into the radio, when TSB came on. He knew I was an incurable Star Wars freak, and called me into the room. I sat there for a while laughing my head off, then left again to continue my life.
Fast forward a few years: My mother discovers Napster. At this time, I was very out of touch with the world and didn't know what the heck to download. Then I remembered: TSB. Of course, I didn't call it that, in fact I had no idea what the title was, so I just put in "The Jedi Song," ran a search, and there it was. This lead me to download many Al Yankovich songs: Dare To Be Stupid, Living La Vida Yoda, Fat, My Name Is Darth Vader, The AOL Song, I Lost On Jeopardy, and Yoda.

I am really sorry to admit this but the first time I heard Al was when my sis downloaded "Amish Paradise". The only reason is that it is really hard to get his stuff in Australia but to comprimise anytime we see anything off his we buy it.
I swear we have a topic like this somewhere...Huh.
Then again, I'm wondering why I'm up at 6 in the morning.
It all began long ago in May of 2000 when I was internet surfing. My older sister (the Al hating one) bugged me to go over to the TV and see some funny music videos. I got up and away from the computer and looked.
Naturally, there's some odd guy singing about Amish and everything. I started laughing. Then the VJ announced, "And here's another video by 'Weird Al' Yankovic, the Saga Begins!"
Show video. Makes the Star Wars fan in me very happy and decided I loved this guy. Naturally, in my mind everything has a .com to it, so I typed in weirdal.com and voila!
I read lots about Al and went out later and bought RWS and Alapalooza first thing. The rest, they say, is history.
