Found the Margaret Cho quote I was looking for. When asked what
COMIC SHE'D PAY TO SEE:
'''Weird Al' Yankovic! He's a genius! He came to my house one time and brought me candy. I still have the box -- it's holy.''
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

and of course the 2006 Sean Lennon quote from the dead-tree edition of Rolling Stone:
"Weird Al" is underrated. he writes, directs, and acts in all of his stuff. People don't realize that he's an auteur."

Of course Darryl Hall could look at that and say, "Sure he awrites, directs and acts in his own stuff, nobody else will hire him." Stupid Darryl Hall.

Any of the Ben Folds quotes from the Biography special would be helpful. I love the one about his fans being willing to lie under a truck for him. [Of course, that comes immediately after the clip of Al holding my Yugoslavian Hand from the OC Fair so I guess I'm biased. ].

Cheers, Diva

Toss up between ... Scissors and Poodle Hat and what with ...Lynwood being a hit album, I can't see how they could possibly justify what they printed in that mag.

The trouble is of course that *some* people cant see past "Eat it", "Fat" and "Like a Surgeon" they're stuck in the past... they see him as a lightweight humorist, not as what he actually is, or has become; a musician and writer and creative force of monumental proportions... How come they didn't see the irony of that "25 year career" bit?

Sorry people, I know I'm ranting slightly but that just ticked me off so much!!
