Well, Al said right in his blog that it was going to be a bad parody, so all this criticism is kind of moot. Besides, we all know Al didn't write it, so we only have the songwriter who did write it to blame. I really don't care, as long as I got to hear Al scream "Brain Feeze!", I'm good.
I liked how Sporkman analyzed the song. It makes more sense when it's broken down like that. Al screaming "Brain freeze" several times is still my favorite part. I like the girl with the huge brain, putting her hands up as if she's in pain.

I just don't want to be disappointed. If you look at the trend with previous guest stars, their parts have gotten smaller and smaller. Stephen Hawking was a large factor in the first episode he guest-starred in, but most recently he only had one line and randomly thrown in. I know Al is very different than him (and won't be randomly thrown in as we know he is a part of the plot), but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that we get more than just this:
Marge: Homer, you have a phone call.
Homer: Y'ello?
Al: Homer Simpson, this is Weird Al Yankovic.
Homer: Oh my God! I can't believe it's you!
Al: I was wondering if I could parody your new song?
Homer: Of course, anything for a polka master.
A scene or two later.
Homer listens to Al's parody/Al performs it on stage.

I liked the episode. I love the revision of history- it fills in the huge gap that has been created because of how long the show has been on TV. Al's part was cool, but of course I wish it was longer... but then again, it's a cameo, which are always short and sweet.

NOW CASTING: Perform This Way, A WOWAY Fan Video
After watching again this morning, I noticed that the Froot of the Loom guys standing behind Al had pom-poms. Nice reference to Smells Like Teen Spirit/Nirvana, take your pick.
