Al On The Simpsons

Target has this on sale for $11.99 this week so I picked it up.

And immediately realized why I didn't buy the previous Simpsons CDs. These songs work way better as minute-long things during episodes and not 72 consecutive minutes.

Yeah, the only one I own is The Simpsons Sing The Blues, and even that I don't listen to anymore. The only song from there that gets regular rotation on my MP3 player is Look At All Those Idiots.

I dunno, Songs in the Key of Springfield had some pretty memorable and repeat listen-to-able songs, such as the Stonecutters song, Lurleen Lumpkin's songs and a couple of others.

Weird Al Yankovic and Kurt Loder Make Guest-Voice Appearances

When Bart and Lisa discover Marges diploma from Springfield University, Marge reveals that she had attended the university back when she and Homer had first started dating. In a flash back, Homer gives up his dreams of becoming a musician and takes a job at his fathers laser tag warehouse to support Marge attending Springfield University. However, when Marge finds herself attracted to an offbeat professor named Professor August, Homer decides he has had enough of Marges wandering eye. Homer instead focuses his emotions on his music, inventing a new sound called grunge. As Marge continues to date the pretentious professor, Homer becomes the hottest grunge artist around, as evidenced by Weird Als parody of his music. Wonderful that Al's episode is coming, but it's also a little weird to see The Simpsons parallel universe imploding. In 1990 Marge and Homer had already been married 10 years.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that it's airing on the 27th, or if they arranged for that to happen do to Al and the number. It's probably the former, though.
