I called the venue today, and they told me cameras will be allowed, as long as they are not professional cameras.

I am left wondering what constitutes a "professional" camera?

Some of the best concert shots I've seen on this board have come from handheld, relatively cheap, $200 digital cameras.

Greg, if I had any transportation across ohio to this venue, I would so take you up on your offer.

I would call anything with a detachable lens a professional camera.

My Canon (film) I used on PH and RWS has a detachable lens...and there is no way its a pro camera. It did occasionally get funny looks, but it also got into a lot of venues.

As long as you don't have some really crazy long zoom lens, its probably OK. Sometimes the security at a venue will decide if a camera is pro looking (or, as at the PNC Bank Arts Center..."too big") based solely on its outline and not on what it can do. You're probably ok with a typical digital camera.

Well, I just got home, and I have to say the show tonight was... above average. Here's why:

Not nearly as many costume changes. Not even a costume for Bedrock Anthem? wtf? It also felt like the interviews and video footage was being over used and kind of like a crutch, way too many between songs. No silk boxers during IWBYL?

A smaller crowd than I was expecting, as well. My entire section (section 222) was all freebie tickets, given away on the radio.

Al had a wide variety of songs, but also left out some pretty standard bits (No "Like a Surgeon skit, Ruben did NOTHING but stand behind his keyboard, No Santa, no Jurassic Park, etc...) But now for some highlights:

"I'm in Love With the Skipper" was HILARIOUS. Also, "Everyone has a Cell Phone" was also a great hoot. And the new version of "Mmm Mmm Mmm" was genius. He played for about 2 hours, but 90% of the songs were from the last 2 or 3 ALbums.

All in Al, I give the night a B-.

Well, wonderful after-show things didn't happen. However, I'm going to take the high road. State some stuff about the show, and get out of this topic. I'll leave the aftershow stuff to the 'special' people. I just hope Jim comes through on his word, and I get to be one of the 'special' people tomorrow night. If I know him, I'm sure that he will.

Well, the concert had some unique things. For starters, there was video during Close But No Cigar, Pentiums, I'll Sue Ya, and Yoda....which has had some in the past, but kind of faint. The video was also taken back to the edited down version with the waiter skit out, some more of the Avril, Kevin, Keith, and Mariah interviews. I'm sure most of you have seen both kinds. Bob was started around 8 beats late, so what Al was saying didn't match up with the video. It was pretty interesting to see. Ribcage and Atlantic Records Sucks shirt in You're Pitiful. There were 10 stormtroopers in Saga Begins. No Darth Vader, or other members of the jedi council. It was cool to see a full line of stormtroopers, though. Also, there wasn't any other interaction with the stormtroopers, such as being the cheerleaders, ho, or Al wearing the stormtrooper mask...as some had stated. I almost got two Yankobucks in I'll Sue Ya, but they both went off my fingertips. In Albuquerque, he did the Halle Berry donuts line..then, put in Apple Fritters again. He replied, "I've already told you, we're outta apple fritters!!!"..He then went with the coconut, french cruelers line. He did the spot where the says that he'll stop because we must be getting tired. There were a few extra runnin's and a few extra 'ahhh''s in missing the irony. Other than that, not too much was changed during the song.

Great show, and hope to be able to go back tomorrow night and be 'special!!'...

Stu, Al's got so many songs that some of them have to be cycled out of the setlist every now and then. And don't you think that Ruben has served his time in the cone bra and deserves to be paroled?

BTW, Wann B Ur Lovr has never included the underwear bit. Some of us ladies would probably burst an artery or something if he did that.

I'm glad you thought the show was at least slightly above average, though.

Yeah, I'm glad it was slightly above average according to Stu.

However, I definitely see where he is coming from. When I first heard the setlist, and even the first show I went to on the tour...it just didn't feel like Al. But, it you go to 26 shows you eventually get to the point where it feels Ally, lol...I would really like if there was a song like Melanie or Dog Eat Dog was the last tour, but I'm not complaining. I understand the need to cut for newer stuff that is more widely known, and needs to be sold more. At least the favorites are still around.

Al's show's great...definitely above average!

What was the song he pulled out a pair of heart boxers from his pants then? Was it One More Minute? I know it was one of the songs he came into the crowd for.

The edited version of TITDT was a big pleasant surprise. One of the best moments all night.
