I won't be getting my hopes up because the only concert I can go to so far is the OC Fair. I suppose you'll have to be strong and positive. Keep looking because some of them have been in random places and things like that.

This thread really belongs in the "Touring and Appearances" section, not "Music and Record."

I know. I accidentally posted it here by mistake (see above post), and have asked if it can be moved.
Hmmm...something's gone horribly awry here...

I'd think a theatre venue would be a lesser chance, since it's so 'formal'. (I met Al at a now-defunct concert tent in downtown Pittsburgh. There, it was easy to figure out where to go... we just stood by the bus!)

I'll be seeing him at the Byham Theatre, so I'd have no idea if they'd even allow a crowd to stay around afterwards. (Judging by other Pittsburgh theatres, they won't - the crowd wasn't even allowed back in the lobby after Larry The Cable Guy, for instance.)

I've actually had BETTER chances of seeing him after the THEATER shows. The outdoor shows and shows of that nature, are less likely.

The majority of the theater shows that i've been to, he's always stayed after, maybe waiting a couple hours or so after the show ends, but its always quite a wait. And as long as its nice weather (though there was one time an umbrella was offered by shelley for him) he'll do the meet n greet outside. Its only been a couple times where it was inside.

And I'll add this too, the Theater goons will try to shoo away as many people as they can, but if you just shuffle your feet and "pretend" your leaving, eventually you know the goons are lying and Al will come out. lol

The first time I met Al was at the State theater in Kazoo. Right, Kaffy! :D The second one was at the Murat Theater in Indy. Hmmm. I'm sensing a pattern with my meets. :P But, we did have to wait forever. Kazoo was outside. Indy was inside cuz it was rainy. Both were awesome though.

So then, I'm seeing Al at the Cg show, which is at an amusement park that Ii'm pretty sure Al has never performed at before, and Al won't be doing another show for 3 days, so what are my chances of getting an autograph. also, I have another question. How early before the show do they usually do their sound check, and what are my chances of getting an autograph (or at least some good pics) at the sound check? See, I've never been to an Al show before, and only been to this particular venue once, so I have no idea what to expect.

This is generall true, but I wanted to mention a funny exception--at the Stroudsburg PA show on May 4th the security was the opposite. We actually left the theater looking for the bus, and we passed the alleyway we were supposed to turn in. A security guy actually followed us down the sidewalk, stopped us and pointed us in the right direction, saying "Al is signing stuff for fans RIGHT THERE!!"

Note on that security guard -- I'm 99% sure he's the one Al sang to during the show... the guy made a little kissy case at Al before heading off the stage, probably to avoid further embarassment.

We had that happen at one venue when security swore that Al had already left. We went up on a nearby hill and saw the bus still there with Jim and Ruben wandering around, talking on their cell phones.

In Reno, the venue was right on the street, and there was no backstage parking, so my hubby literally bumped into Steve who was trying to wake up, smoking a cigarette outside the bus. It was nearly impossible to avoid.
