Kristine, I think the argument against costume changes implies that he would drop songs that necessitate costumes such as Amish Paradise and Fat in exchange for 3 or 4 lesser known songs. Of course this is unlikely to happen, but this is a forum of die-hards so of course we would rather see obscure songs played in lieu of his biggest hits.

Yeah, I guess. But I highly doubt he would get rid of the popular ones. Unfortunately, we are actually a minority- he's not out to please just us. lol. As much as we wish it were otherwise, it just isn't so.

I understand what you're saying, Jon, but I actually like some of those bigger hits. I agree that he could drop AP, but I still want to see "Fat". That's a concert staple for me. Plus, I think the costumes add to the show. It's makes Al's concerts unique. Very few artists have costume changes during their shows, and it adds to the comedy and fun of the concert. Having said that, if Al could have less of the big hits and more lesser known songs, I would be all for it. I wouldn't mind if he eliminated SLN or another song if we get songs we've never heard preformed live.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Not only is "Fat" a staple, but it's a great closer for the concert. I'd really seem wrong to not have that in the show. SLN is another one I couldn't see being dropped. But AP, despite being such a big hit, could easily be dropped in favor of IAATP or W&N. I've always considered the live performance of AP to be very dull and uninspired, especially alongside SLN, BA, and Fat.

I certainly don't think Al should drop any of the big hits that require costumes. I love seeing Fat, Amish Paradise, Smells Like Nirvana, etc being performed. I was merely positing that if he wanted to play a few more songs, those would have to be the ones to go.

Well, Bruce, i can see how you think that Canadian Idiot will show up as first song, but I have asked many people if they heard of Weird Al. Many declined. I asked about White and Nerdy, all said yes. I presume being one of the top songs in the nation Al is going to play White and Nerdy first.

Usually, the "big songs" are saved for the end of a show, no matter what artist is doing them. So, although CP showed up as the first song at the start of the PH tour, it eventualy moved closer to the end (and seemed a better fit there, based on flow, from what I heard--I only saw versions of the show where CP was toward the end) I personally would expect WAN to end up in the last set.
CI does make a good kick off song, I think, especially since it chased up the charts pretty quickly after WAN...its quick moving, its based on a fairly popular tune, and I think it would be a good way to kick off a show and then build to WAN.

That is true... Yeah i can see that. I personally don't care when they come, I love all his songs! I sure hope this done in the same mind as the John Prine concert i went to a few years ago. Play some new ones, but lots of the good ol' classics.

When Al kicked off the Bad Hair Tour with Gump and SYBG he wore a simple gold-lamé shirt that was a minor departure from his usual attire. After those two songs he quickly changed into the usual Hawaiian shirt. I'd like to see Al start off with some minor Canadian Idiot costume. Maybe red ties with black maple leafs, black shirts and pants, and a studded belt. Then Al would just have to take off the ties and put on a Hawaiian shirt between CI and the Polka.
