QUOTE Whoa! That's more than I needed to know! :D About the Eminem thing, if Eminem really is suing Al, which I doubt, I wonder what will happen. I realize Eminem has no case, but will Al settle out of court just to keep the story away from the press? He shouldn't, but I'm sure he doesn't want the bad publicity either.

what?? hes not suing al!! how can he? Y is he sueing???

If Em did such an idiotic thing, Al would practically have to defend it in a trial, because of the precedent it would set for use of parody in general. But I don't expect to be standing on any marble steps anywhere waiting to watch Al walk into the courthouse. That's what Michael Jackson fans do. :(

There already has been a precedent set for people trying to sue parody artists. Back in the late 80s someone tried to sue a rap parody group called "2 Live Jew" for a parody that they did. The case was thrown out of court and it basically set a precedent that you cannot sue an artist for parody as long as you get your royalties and stuff for music used. I don't know all the details of the 2 Live Jew case, and some of the above information might be wrong, but I'm sure Elvis or Dr. Dad will come around with a handy link soon enough...

You know I've defended Eminem and his right to decline the parody, but if he really does try to sue Al, I will lose any respect that I had for him. At least Coolio had the good sense to have his little hissy fit and then be done with it. I really hope this article is false. On the other hand, Em would never win the case, but in the process he would give Poodle Hat tons of free publicity, so...

Em suing Al is completely ridiculous. No, this is part of a new vh1 special. The Best of:Court Cases that lasted less than 10 minutes

Juuuust kidding!

But what a ridiculous idea!

And Cindy? In your avatar Al looks...DEAD!!!..... :nervous:

That is WAY too creepy...

Publicity? GOOOD. Al being exploited????....NOT...GOOD!! ;) (I hope you know what I mean...)

Well, let Em write a few more hatred-filled songs..that should calm him down... :P

Wouldn't be surprised to see that happen, unless for some reason he realizes between now and then how hypocritical he was and just tries to let it die. But judging by how dour he got when he had to take it as opposed to dish it out, I'm guessing that realization might not hit him... "ya know what I mean?"

What a rap battle! "In this corner, the Prince of Parody, the King of Rock and Roll Accordion, 'Weird Al' Yankovic! And in the other corner, Mr. 'Can-Dish-It-Out-But-Can't-Take-It, the wildly successful but dour and cranky rap sensation, Marshall 'Missy Misdemeanor Elliott' Mathers, better known as Eminem!"
