One thing I've been thinking about with the tour is what parodies from SOL are going to appear in full and which are going to appear in the medley. My guess would be that probably W&N and CI will be played on their own (with others maybe) and CPt3, DICYO, and TitDT will appear in the medley.

Yeah, that's around what I think Barney Slayer. However, I doubt that he'll do anything with TITDT.
That sounds like a great combo, sdog. And what better time to do Living With A Hernia, then the year anniversary from when I was Living With A Hernia.
Also, did anyone hear about the weird scam that a guy pulled offereing Weird Al concerts in different places? I got a Google Alert on it this morning: http://www.pollstar.com/news/viewnews.pl?NewsID=7575

I think that there is a chance that he will play TitDT. He usually plays a a chunk of the beginnings to parodies in the medley, and because TitDT is a parody (the first epic song to be one) I think it has a chance of popping up in there. Of course, I could be wrong.Alinite27 @ Jan 15 2007, 03:46 PM wrote: However, I doubt that he'll do anything with TITDT.

I totally agree, but it's even worse than you say. I've seen IRON MAIDEN a few times, and it's just accepted that they will do 2 encores. I actually saw a band (forget who) do 3 encores once. Pathetic.Well, Well, Well @ Dec 15 2006, 05:42 PM wrote: I wish more bands didn't do encores. It's just such an assumed thing nowadays that anyone who's ever heard of live music knows the band is coming back to play a few more songs. The only exception I have seen is a few bands coming back for a second encore, which, more or less, serves the purpose of what the first encore is supposed to be. But I say: just play all the songs you want to play, and get off the stage. Don't make us wait around for a few minutes like it's "special," because it's not--we know you're coming back.
Back to the topic of Al, I wish he would just incorporate the TSB/Yoda bit into his regular set. Then he could do an encore in the true sense of the word. That would be a good time to do a longer song like TBBoTiM or Albuquerque (but not TitDT, unless he were to follow it with a more upbeat song). I know it won't happen though.
Wishing you a Twisted Christmas and a Twisted New Year!

Bit if bands didn't play encores all of a sudden, it would be a disappointment because you'd expect more. And sometimes they play more than one because the audience keeps asking for more, not because they planned to play more than one. It also gives the band a break of a few minutes to catch their breath, to relax, before coming back on and putting a bunch of energy into a rocking ending. Putting aside the costume change issues, Al and band are probably just a little bit more energetic when they play Yoda, thanks to the short break.
Encores are a great tradition.

If they plan the set, finish it, go off stage and the audience is screaming for more, that is when a band should do an encore. They shouldn't do it as a gimmick, or because the audience expects it.
The tsunami of immediacy will wash away the flood of grief, and reveal a layer of naive optimism underneath

Agreed.
And I'm not sure if five minutes backstage gives a band enough time to catch their breath. And sometimes it can take a band out of their flow. But anyway, encores are probably always going to be around. And even if a band didn't play an encore, I'd probably still be waiting there, expecting it.
