Polkariffic! I like that word. Of course I will be buying all of them that I can lay my hands on. Too bad some stuff is out of print :(

.

Although it is hard to find some of Al's cds in stores, they are all available at amazon.com. Run, don't walk, over there right now and buy them all! :choon:

Have fun :)

I was wandering aroung weirdal.com and was looking at the videos and I need to decide what to order next...

"WEIRD AL" YANKOVIC: THE VIDEOS

or WAY Live?

I have seen both (a friend of mine has them.) I can't decide. Obviously, eventually I will have both of them! (If my friend was a true friend, he would just give them to me...)

And, is the UHF soundtrack still available?

That's a tough call, but I would have to recommend "The Videos" first. It's getting harder to come by (if it's not officially out of print at this point), so it's only going to get more and more expensive as time goes by....and such a necessary collection should be on every Al fan's shelf.

Of course, that's assuming Volcano won't have plans to do an updated version by the time of the next album. There's only about 20 or so videos that Al has yet to do commentary about. :)

Yep (there was a thread a while back with hints on where to find its many hiding spots in some retail stores). In fact, all of Al's normal albums are still in print. It's just the goofy things like "Peter and the Wolf" and "Babalu Music" that you may have trouble finding.

That would be great! It would also be fun to have the band chime in. Maybe some video of the studio time and the making of a WAY AL-bum.

And... this is post 300 for me! No more Al heads to win

Unless of course I get to be a moderator now?? Nah. I'm just not ready for that kind of commitment. Maybe we could earn Hawaiian shirts for our Al heads?

Well, let's look at what kind of chance there is of a new "complete" DVD video collection....

For each new full length studio album going back to "Off The Deep End," Scotti Bros. or Volcano has produced a new home video release containing whatever the current new music video(s) is.

Now, imagine if you will that it is 2003 and that a new album has been released, and as usual two music videos are produced to promote it. Volcano would most likely see the value in putting them out on some new home video release, but how?

It's doubtful that they would produce a new live concert video just to include the two new music videos. Also, with all of the previous VHS compilations still in print, the entire Weird Al music video collection is still available on that format. So, it's doubtful that Volcano would do an updated version of "Video Library."

It is feasible that they could put Video 1 and Video 2 onto a ten minute cassette and release it as "ALBUM 11: The Videos," but that may not be cost effective. They could probably also include the "Spy Hard" credit-less title sequence, but a three video collection would seem even weirder than just the two. And, VHS in general is dying a slow death. So, unless they have a surplus of blank ten minute tapes that they're looking to get rid of fast, a new VHS collection is out.

But hey, isn't the old "'Weird Al' Yankovic: The Videos" DVD out of print? Hmmm....

So, Volcano can soup up the DVD program with commentary or minor extras (such as if any behind the scenes footage is still around or the cow credits to "Smells Like Nirvana"), have the crew that did the "Live!" DVD come up with some kick-butt menus, and add "The Saga Begins," "It's All About The Pentiums," Video 1, and Video 2 to the line-up.

And what would they call the new collection? Well, since Al's first music video was in 1983, there can even be a parody of a current DVD trend. "Weird Al" Yankovic: The Complete First Score

(or if you prefer, "The Complete First Twenty Years")

The only other option would be for Volcano to produce a DVD single for the two new videos. However, I'm not sure if Volcano or Zomba has done that kind of thing in the past....usually the DVD single is Warner Music's domain.

Or, of course, we just won't get any new video product for the new album, but c'mon....it's Weird Al. Volcano isn't stupid.

I would buy that. But how about "The Compleat 20th Century Collection"

Neither is Al. Isn't it the videos that drive the sales of his albums to the casuAL fans? I mean, those of us who are Rabid Wolverines, would buy a video of Al standing on his head reading the phone book. (Which might actually be funny.) We would watch him paint his bathroom, or clip his toenails.
