Update Pertaining to My Listening Status: Well, I've managed to listen to a skippy, choppy, distorted rendition of the seven-minute-long Morning Edition by telling the site that I happen to use Media Player and not Real Audio for my streaming audio needs. I've also made a little progress in trying to hear the full interview; my computer actually recognizes the file format now, though it seems unwilling to actually go about playing it. :(

I played mine through the AOL Media Player, and it played just fine. I don't know about Window Media Player or the Real Player.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Real Audio launched itself and played the interview just fine. I think I listened to it about 5 times before I finally went to bed.

Al does have a beautiful speaking voice....

I have dial-up with RealONE player, and it worked great.

That was a good interview. He cleared up the Frankie Yankovic myth *again*. :sigh: Pity he didn't talk about the originals on PH though. :(

But yeah, thanks for that!

Mewrio -- I'm glad it works for you. You should have your mum listen to it. As I listened to it, I was thinking it would be a good interview for nonAl fans (like parents and other family members) to listen to just to get some general background on Al and his music, so they can identify with us a little better.

It was also a refreshing 180 degree shift from that inane Nickelodeon special that only perpetuated Al's "juvenile" stigma. It was pleasing to my inner grown-up.

http://www.real.com. You'll have to filter through all the crap about "RealONE Premium" and just keep looking for RealONE Basic. That's the one you want.

Man, Real used to be a good, free player. Now they're just in it for the money.

A moment of silence for the dying age of freeware... :(

I just downloaded it and I loved it. Its a great interview. And also agree that his voice is deeper which I thought sounded really nice. :)

Through some bizarre, ineffably complex process, the likes of which I myself do not fully comprehend, I was finally able to listen to the interview in its high-quality entirety via Media Player and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really didn't notice any difference in Al's voice, but that's understandable as I am partially tone deaf.
