Wonder what Al thinks about it? We'll probably never know, but they are friends.
Hmmm...something's gone horribly awry here...

My guess is that he was already booked to appear at the club, and the club had little notice to grab another "entertainer" (more or less forced into a corner).

And in response to Anth, I did read an article on AOL centered around Jerry's response. I would link it, but yeah, it's AOL.

It's also up on YouTube. Why TMZ kept causing my browser to crash, I don't know.

But yeah, it's pretty disturbing. I'm not quite sure if he can or even should recover from this.

I just wish I knew what was leading up to all that, because it did seem as if he was trying to wrap it into some sort of context of his act.

I'm not suprised--if the hecklers were shouting at him, telling him he sucked and telling him he's done nothing since Seinfeld--that he would snap like that. After all, the truth hits hard. It may have been very wrong, but I can forgive him, albeit I hope he gives some sort of public explanation (whether written or vocal) and/or apology. And even if he does not...he still played thee greatest sitcom character of all time, and I'm still going to watch Seinfeld and buy the DVDs.

Apparently he went on Letterman's show today (via satellite) and made a heartfelt apology. The show will air tonight, and Jerry Seinfeld is the in-studio guest. Should make for interesting TV....

^Yeah ditto, thanks for that info Meadows.

I saw this on the news today and I was like OMG. Earlier today I watched UHF for the second time, once without the commentary and then with it. He seems like a person who speaks his mind without really thinking about it, he just says it.

:o Wow....that's just unbelievable. He just completely snapped. I mean, I understand getting angry at hecklers, but that's way over the top. Hurling racial slurs at people is really uncalled for, and it really saddened me to see such a great comedian doing that kind of thing. I would really like to know what was going on in his mind. I'll still support Seinfeld and buy the DVDs because I like the show. The character of Kramer is going to be a bit tainted for me now though.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

I'm surprised he didn't get his ass kicked

Emily, that really wouldn't solve anything if it did... Anyways, um, that's.... Um... What happened... Um, yeah. To me, I can't describe it in words. It's just... Surprising for Michael to say that.
