QUOTE That was GREAT!   Very enjoyable reading.  You have a way with words Mr. Sporkman!

Thanks. I attribute my linguistic genius to the creative inspiration of the recent reading of Douglas Adams's and Spider Robinson's literary work, my recent attendance to an Al concert  , and, of course, a subliminal desire to compete with the inhumanly witty repartee and amazing grammatical skills of Orthography Enthusiast.

The show was amazing. I liked it a lot better than the show in St. Louis just because we got the whole setlist. Horoscope was outstanding. I also really dug Dog Eat Dog. I don't know how the rest of you felt who were there, but I thought the crowd was kinda lame. They weren't nearly as into it as the St. Louis crowd. They kinda perked up once it started raining though. We sat right next to the girl who got the scarf in One More Minute. That was quite the exciting event. Overall it was a typically awesome Al experience. I'm now bummed because this was my last show of the tour but I was totally satisfied with both shows I saw!!

QUOTE About ten feet to your left, there is a shy, seemingly introverted boy with semi-long, semi-curly, brown hair and an orange Hawaiian shirt leaning against a brick pillar averting his eyes whenever you happen to briefly glance in his general direction. I, uh, realize this sounds extremely pathetic, but I, uh, have to admit that that happens to, uh, be me.

I vaguely remember you then. I do remember the orange Hawaiian shirt definitely.

So many memories in that concert induced haze.

They were okay, they weren't as into it as the Chicago crowd or the OC crowd last year, but they were better than my TWS concert in 2000.

Ah yes, I got my review up and also a couple of actual decent pictures this time here. Sorry about the quality of the pictures on the site. Some you can blame on my scanner. They look really nice on my 4x6 photos. Plus, blame the incorrect date on the camera. I have to find that camera booklet to reset it at some point.

Great review! I believe you've adequately described all of the significant aspects of the Kansas City concert experience. I couldn't concoct a better review if I had the initiative to do so.

QUOTE [The comedian] was okay, but had a lot of Kansas City jokes, so as an out-of-towner I didn't get them. I did like his demonic Furby joke.

Yeah. I'm an out-of-towner (a Lincolnite, specifically) myself and therefore failed to understand the vast majority of the local humor. I did, however, enjoy the sheer accuracy of his satirical description of techno music in general (My brother listens to it, so I could sufficiently appreciate the mockery.), and of course, the demonic Furby:

[/size]I LOOOOOVE YOOOOUUUUUU! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to compliment your photographs; although they were more than likely of a relatively decent nature, I cannot view them due to the fact that my supposed 56kbps modem is only functioning at 14kbps. :(

Thus why I have modified that page so you can click links instead to each individual picture. :) Does your computer like that better?

Also, as you can see, my new avatar is from the KC show. It's my favorite picture that I took. Everytime I look at it, I just remember Al and Steve playing, but making goofy faces at each other.

Yep. I am now capable of viewing your images clearly--

I am now capable of viewing your images. :P

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the interpolation and blurring were unintentional, but, I don't know, I kind of think the distortion actually adds to the pictures a little. I believe it helps to artistically convey the sensation of the whimsical concert-induced haze of an atmosphere . . .

(continues to generate complimentary hyperbole until it reaches ludicrous proportions and collapses in on itself due to the sheer intensity of its own gravitational force, dooming us all to the most horrid of celestial perils, a black hole!)

This the one photograph that would have benefited from the prospect of clarity; the slightly blurred image just doesn't display the utter hilarity of those goofy faces. Ah, well. :sleepy:

Wow, Douglas Adams and Spider Robinson and Al all together!

And thanks for mentioning me, too, I think. :lookround:

-OE, going off to look in the mirror and practice being inhuman for a while.

I know, but I'm happy that least it came out that clear. It would've been nice that is so clear you could see their faces clearly, but oh well. Just that picture reminds me of all the funny faces they made. :)

Yes, also all blurred pictures are unintentional. If I could have it my way, all of my pictures would come out nice and clear, except for the occasional blurred ones.

I'm going to save up to buy a digital camera. It would be nice. :)

Oh yeah, was it just me, or did they go quite smoke happy at KC? There were times they had so much smoke on stage, you could barely see Al through it.

There seemed to be a lot of smoke effects at Poughkeepsie too. I prefer bubbles and a smoke-free stage. The place it works best is during the accordion-lift part of the parodies medley.
