Anyone from across the pond planning on coming to the US for tourchasing might want to consider the northeast (NY/NJ/New England) for week or so--Al loves coming to the east coast, and while its quite a congested area this works out in meaning many shows that are relatively close together and easy to get to...I've done weeks seeing shows in NY, NJ, CT, and PA in past tours! Plu smy post show be a geek by the bus hit rate is about 50% that way :)

That area worked well for me in the past as well. In two weeks, nine shows in a row (the 10th was cancelled) and still had some time to site/sight see (amish country, Hershey chocolate, see a theater play, go on a night walking ghost tour, etc.). It's a strange/interesting area with lots of history.

With even just a couple of days, you could possibly attend a couple of concerts. Chicago's Navy Pier is a pretty place to see a concert--possibly two in one day.

(Hmm...wonder with the Myspace exposure if there'll be a lot more people competing for concert tickets as soon as they go on sale?)

You could come to the Midwest, too, Emily. That's what our very own Whizzi did. He saw an Al show in Michigan, and one in Ohio. I got to meet him, too. It was really great! *If Al plays at Meadowbrook again next tour, go to a show there. You might meet me!*

Good luck, no matter where you choose to go in the U.S., if you can swing it.

That's a good point... I might hafta make plans waaaay ahead and get my tickets the second they're available to ensure good seats. =/ Ah, well. It'll still be my second Weird Al concert, lol, and it shall rock no matter where I have to sit.
Are we playin' horseshoes, honey? No, I don't think we are...

Meadowbrook is also a nice venue.

And maybe Al will tour Canada and Australia again? We'll just have to wait and see.

I sat in the balcony once - hehe Take binoculars. It's more fun to be closer, but it was still fun to see Al going out in the audience from a bird's eye view.

I found that even when Al is at his most popular, most of the casual fans you're concerned about usually get tickets later in the week (or even a few weeks later). If you call right when the tickets go on sale for most mid to lower level popularity shows, you can usually get pretty great seats. Especially because there is virtually no pre-sales for fan club lists and if there were, we'd find out about it first being on Al's email list...

Har, this is always my strategy!

I don't think that all venues necessary start selling from the front row--certainly I've gotten seats that were purchased within minutes of the show going on sale that were a LOT further back than those purchased later for the same show...the LAST time I saw Al (in Reno, NV) we managed to get a pair in the front row only a few weeks before the show--and it had been on sale for some time.

So, I guess the point I'm really trying to make is...I. HATE...um, buying tickets right away doesn't really guarentee you a front row seat. And really, seeing Al from nearly any point in most venues is still great!

I have an "in" for tickets to Meadowbrook, so I don't really worry about ordering them. I let my friend take care of it, and she has come through fairly well for me. I got front row seats first time from her, and fourth row the second time. Btw, those fourth row seats were FREE!
