Hmmm. If there's a mass defect in many of the sets, I'm sure they will fix the problem and offer exchanges of the discs, like they did with PR:AitB. I'm just gonna be patient and wait for some kind of announcement. No reason to panic. Besides, there are much greater things than TWAS on the horizon...

The third disc is skipping during the commentaries and refusing to play individual episodes.
But I'm still enjoying the commentaries. I didn't much care for Al's absence during "Al Plays Hooky." I wanted to hear what he had to say about many of those segments, especially "60% Chance of Rain." The guys commenting mentioned Kevin McCarthy's acting credits, but neglected to point out his role in "UHF."
But I loved Al and (the other guy)'s alternate voiceover for the "Sport Shoe" commercial. That was much funnier than the actual voiceover. I also loved when Al said that the CBS execs thought the audience was "mildly retarded."
One thing I'd wish they'd bring up in the commentaries is how much more successful children's television shows managed quite well to make their shows very educational and message-driven without beating it into the kids' heads and detracting from the integrity of the shows. Some prominent examples are "Fraggle Rock," "He-Man," and of course "Pee-Wee's Playhouse." I wonder if this was ever brought up to the CBS execs. Was anyone fighting to talk some sense into those people? Or were they just unwilling to listen to reason?
Another thing I'd like to hear Al talk about (and I'm only through "He Ain't Heavy..." so maybe it's still to come) is any ideas about future episodes that he might have had, if the show had been successful enough to warrant another season. Knowing Al, I'm sure he had plenty of story ideas on the back burner.

My dad came back from Grande Prairie, and he says he talked to the peeps at CD Plus, who looked it up on their inventory thingy, and said the set isn't going to be available in Canada until.... BUM BUM BUUUUM.... September 26.
Now I guess I'm off to see if any online store will take Paypal AND ship to Canda AND not take 8 weeks to get it up here...

I'm not being condescending, I'm too busy thinking about far more important things you wouldn't understand.

And that's something that was known about before the DVD came out.algonacchick @ Aug 19 2006, 09:11 PM wrote: I'm watching "The Competition" with commentary, but I can still tell that the sound and the picture aren't matching up. That's the only problem I've had so far.
Since that's more of a production error than a technical error, I just want to stress to everyone that if that's the only thing wrong with your DVD, you do not have a defective disc. Every single copy is going to be like that.

Production errors or not; they should fix it. I suppose I can deal with the commentary being slightly off with the video, but the audio drop outs during the "Competition" episode is unacceptable to me. If I have to, I'll return my 3 copies and just wait until a new match is produced. This was one of my favorite episodes and it's frustrating I can't even hear parts of it.CatraDhtem @ Aug 20 2006, 07:04 AM wrote: And that's something that was known about before the DVD came out.
