I have a lot of money saved up. It's just a question of if my parents wil let me buy two or three DVD's so close together.TheMeccaOfAlbinoPoodles @ Aug 11 2006, 07:17 PM wrote: My birthday is that Friday.
While I feel for you, remember: saving is key.

As cool as it is to find the DVD early, it still might be best to just wait until Tuesday for two reasons, one selfish and one selfless:
1. The "big box" chains (Best Buy, Circuit City) and some of the mall stores often greatly lower the price of a new release during its first week (or rather, from Tuesday through that Sunday). And of course, there's a chance that sale prices could be listed in this Sunday's newspaper circulars, which would then allow one to price-match at other stores if one wants to. Since most sale and "new release" prices probably wouldn't go into effect until a title's actual street date, if one wanted to try to get the best deal for the set it would be best to wait until Tuesday.
2. Outside of online pre-order sales (Amazon, etc.), all purchases of the set before its release date wouldn't count toward its first-week sales figures (remember, as I believe our old friend Chuck Miller told us, sales weeks for audio and video products begin on Tuesday, not Sunday). "Billboard" not only keeps track of DVD sales but also sales specifically from kids videos, so TWAS has a chance of charting pretty high in its first couple of weeks. So if we want TWAS to have a great debut sales week, again it would be best to wait until Tuesday.

You mean the release of SOL is legitimate enough?!?!?
I just got the only copy of TWAS that my local Borders had, of course they wont sell it to me until tomorrow, but they put it on hold for me. Only 20 hours until I get to hold it in my grubby little paws.

Best Buy is known for putting stuff on the shelves early... I remember getting Invader Zim Volume 2 an entire week before the actual release date. So it doesn't surprise me that they have it in stock now.
I'm gonna get it tomorrow though. YAY!

No, I think they had a special deal with Media Blasters. Hot Topic had it early, too. But I'm getting it tomorow!
