How do we verify this is true and not someone just yanking our chains?
Everyone, I seriously doubt it was actually the real Mary Gormley. It's just some anonymous dope who's too cowardly to come here and mock us after trolling the forum for information. Talk about having no life, huh?
I really, really,
really doubt an executive at one of the largest record labels in the world would make her first official statement about a news-making situation via a comment on a blog that's read by at most four people (not counting the author's relatives of course).
As to the tone of the "comment" itself, you should never feel bad about voicing your opinions to people,
especially when it concerns your choices as a consumer. In the last four years a long-out-of-print movie came back out on home video and was treated with more respect than it ever received, and in just two months a nine-year-old cancelled TV show is being released in its entirety even though about three-fourths of its intended audience never even knew about it. That's not luck. That's people talking to those who can make stuff happen. It may not always work, but it's certainly worth a try.
It's the people who sit on the sidelines and do nothing who are always the ones kvetching and moaning after the fact. If that's how they want to spend their short time on this planet, then let them. I'll instead be enjoying the things that we might not have had unless folks spoke up to the right people.
