Not really about Al, but we were talking about accordions in science yesterday.

i was watching FUEL TV yesterday, which is a n extreme sports channel, and Al was shown in an ad for a show called Fusion TV

it was weird because the ad was really fast shots of various extreme sports, then in the middle there was a clip of Al, just for a few seconds, it looked like he hit his face on the camera.....then back to extreme sports

Julie, sorry to hear about your friend Augie. :(

Can you believe people want me to remove the auto-spell-corrector for Al's last name!?

hehe, yeah, I guess some people would rather the spell corrector wasn't there when they're trying to explain about someone spelling it or saying it wrong. Just put a hyphen between the c and the h. No biggie.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

did Al release two different versions of UHF? [the song]

i just got the movie soundtrack, but before that i had the version that is used for the video clip [i don't know where it came from, i got it off of my friends computer, maybe he hooliganed it?]

the version of UHF on the soundtrack is obviously the same one used for the credits of the movie, with the massive gee-tar solo in the middle, and the intro sounds different too

did the non-soundtrack version come from permanent record maybe?

why didn't Al use the movie version for the video?

*i know this probably doesn't belong here, but i didn't know where else to put it, so mods feel free to move it somewhere more appropriate 8) *

Three - movie credits version, single/music video version and the album version. And IIRC there was an excerpt of the instumental released on some funky French release of something or other.

On a side note I unfortunately discovered that Fun Zone was used in a flash video called "Bob & Jack's Abortion Clinic". No, I am NOT posting that link here. Don't go looking for it, please. It will scar you for life. Dead serious. And they didn't even give Al any credit. <_<

If it's that offensive, and it sounds like it would be, I wonder if Al's lawyers could have it removed?

'nother subject: Thanks Evis. Augie's funeral is today. It's gonna be rough. He touched so many people the president of the university will be giving an award every year called "The Augie" to people who show his kindness and dedication.

I'm thinking maybe Augie would've liked me to have the album he gave me auctioned off for Al's star fund. Will look into it next week.

Thought I should mention this. Mom was listening to the country station in the car and she told me that the DJs were talking about Al and wondering if he was still touring.

I dunno if they meant if he was actually still doing stuff or still touring from the last tour. Who knows. It was nice that Al was thought about...which is rare on the radio stations here.

Extended versions are usually frowned upon as singles or videos due to their length. A, to pull numbers out of thin air, three-minute version of a song is more appealing to MTV or top 40 radio stations than a five-minute song because then they could stuff more songs into a block. This is why getting a video for something like "The Saga Begins" in regular rotation uncut was nothing short of a miracle.

Some other recent examples of songs with alternate single and album versions would be Barenaked Ladies' "Pinch Me" and Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."
