Well, I'm am SUPER honored to announce that Bermuda toiled away endlessly and selflessly and has created a totally unique Al track that IS rare and is NOT available anywhere else at the present time. This is by no means an exclusive, but it'll just be available on Laughter V.2 for the first time. Anyway, thanks to Bermuda, Laughter Is A Powerful Weapon Volume 2 will contain...

Happy Birthday (Placebo Records Version) By "Weird Al" Yankovic - Remixed in STEREO!!

I got to hear the track for the first time last night and it's awesome! The stereo is really awesome during the middle section with all the yelling, screaming and car breaks squeeling in the background.

Anyway, the CD is off to be mastered, then we wait the four weeks or so to get them back from the Manufacturing plant! I'll keep folks up to date on the progress! But start saving up your $15 now! And remember they make great Holiday Gifts!

Much thanks to Jay Levey & AL for making this happen and Bermuda for adding the extra icing on the cake by remixing the track in STEREO!

Rock On!

Grant

I had a feeling that was the difference.

That's good too, I really like the EP version better than the album version.

I agree with Jace on this.

The EP version (Especially now remixed) sounds better. The better half of the early recordings sound better than the final cut IMHO.

Too bad WOWAY parodists can't do a compilation CD to confort the victims of both Hurricane Katrina and Rita.

....Hmm.... I might be onto something there!

I say go for it. That'll be a little harder to put together. One rule we made for this CD was no parodies or covers to make things a little smoother in the rights department.

We did, as you will notice, make one exception and that is Bermuda's track for which we got the Mechanical Rights for. We felt this was a good thing to do because 1) it's an AWESOME song and the remix on it is SO amazing it MUST be out there for you all to listen to over and over and 2) we had such a tremendous outpouring of support in our initial drive to raise money that we surpassed our goal and figured that we could afford to spend the money to get the license. I hope you agree we made the right choice.

The money that this CD will raise will be sent to the Red Cross and we'll mark it as "To Help With Hurricane Relief." Although now with the flooding in the Northeast and the Earthquake in Asia it's difficult to say our money can only be used in one place. However, the main cause behind Jaye coming up with the idea of creating this CD was Hurricane Katrina so we'll start by sending all the money in that direction.

Wow. I just heard the Placebo EP version of HB for the first time (on Dr. D), and it polkas! It's like 27,000 times better than the AL-bum version. I can't wait for this.

Hey Gang!

Just wanted you to know that the release of Laughter Is A Powerful Weapon Vol. 2 is just days away! The "official" release date is December 13, but it may be a little sooner. Here's the timeline:

I get the CDs delivered today and will be sending a box, today, to CDBaby.com who will be handling all the sales.

It takes about 10 days for the CDs to be added to their website and put up for sale.

So we're thinking around the 13th of December. It could be sooner than that, so keep your eyes peeled. Watch http://www.FunnyMusicians.com for info. I will post in here when the CD is up for sure. I will be sending them an initial shipment of 30 CDs. (This is WAY more than they usually allow, they usually only want 5. If those initial set of 30 sell out immediately, they'll let me send more and I will have another box of CDs all set to send to them.)

There are only 1,000 CDs and once they are gone they probably won't be reprinted! So get yours early! (The CD will also NOT be made available for Digital Download, like through iTunes, so don't wait for that!)

I'm SO excited to get this CD out to you!

I want to thank Al for donating the song to the CD, Jay Levey for making it happen and a BIG HUGE PILE OF THANKS to Bermuda who not only donated a remixed version of his song to the project, he also remixed Happy Birthday to give us something totally unique for the CD.

I also want to thank you for the support you guys have (and hopefully will) give this project. The people in New Orleans still need our help and when you buy this disc you'll not only be getting a great disc of some funny comedy music (and a super rare new Al track) you'll also be helping people who need it!

I also hope that by listening to this CD you might come across one or two comedy music acts you've never heard before and will want to check them out. But that's just a side bonus to the whole thing!

Okay, I'll stop blabbing now! The CDs will be here soon (and they make EXCELLENT stocking stuffers! Buy 8!)

Yours,

Grant

I also just found this thread. This is awesome news! This sounds like a great CD and I will definitely be buying it. It was very nice of Jon and Al to donate songs.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.
