Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

I really really really hope that BTM-type "milk-the-misfortune" shows stay strictly away from Al now that he actually has had a great personal sorrow. I don't want to see MTV/VH1 or any of their ilk getting anywhere near Nick and Mary.

I think it depends on how they mention it. If they just say " Sadly Al's parents are no longer with us."I don't think that would be bad. But just to have some story of personal tragedy and dwell on it, then yeah stay away.

His parents were on that show. So I don't know why, they would do something to disrespect Nick and Mary, and Al.

And I haven't seen BTM on, in a long time.

I just realized its almost been a year since they passed away. :(

VH1 seems to use it mainly as filler now (much like with music videos it seems). For the life of me I can't recall when the last new episode had aired.

Actually, it looks like VH1 Classic might be rerunning them now, as they had a small marathon about a week ago or so. Sadly, AFAIK, no Al. :(

I HIGHLY doubt that VH1 would make light of the accident. But I don't think it would be disrespectful to mention it briefly in a special or an interview. Yes, it was a sad event, but it's silly to pretend it didn't happen or that it wasn't a significant event.

People shouldn't be afraid to talk about death.

But anyway, I have a question about this BHM special. Was Al interviewed at all for his segment or did they just talk about it?

Nope he wasn't interviewed. They showed an old clip fom his BTM though.

I agree!

The last Behind the Music that I can remember was the Guns n Roses one that aired late last year, and that was more of a "special" ep than a regular one.
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

Oh I agree that death shouldn't be a forbidden topic, and I hope Al IS talking about it.... with his family, his friends, people who actually intersect with his life at some point of genuine feeling. It's the turning it into entertainment that I wouldn't want to see.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I understood what you meant the first time about Nick and Mary's death, OE. I agree. It doesn't need to be broadcast all over the place on an entertainment network.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!
