How To Post Avatars And Photos

Hey guys! I know I'm being a total newbie about this (which I am at the moment), but I've seen a lot of avatars that are specific scenes from movies (like NAPOLEON DYNAMITE and UHF) that I have never seen on the web. I'm going to guess that they were shots take from those movies by either the member who has it or someone else, and I would really like to know how you save the still frames from movies or whatever and get them to be your avatars?

There are two ways to do this:

1. Search for someone else that has already taken the pic you want of the movie on the internet.
2. Get a DVD ROM drive on the computer and DVD player software that has a capture function and capture the frame you want.

I know you can't put pictures from the Mothership on here, but what about parts of pictures from there? I mean, like you take Al's hair or shirt or something from a picture on there and put it in another picture from somewhere else?

Um, I guess so, just don't tell anyone that you got it from the mothership.
