YD&U is one of the many weak originals on Alapalooza. Like Anthony said, it's basically a one-joke song, much like GiF, maybe even weaker.

Just wondering, is this a style parody of a particular act? Like, Ugly Kid Joe or something? Or is it just a general hair metal parody?

I've kinda changed my opinion on this song. I don't really care for it.

I don't like the way he sings it. Although some of the lyrics are funny. So I do give it some credit! But other then that, I don't really like it.

I actually really like this song. I think it really shows off Al's vocal range, especially when you compare it to one like the Truck Drivin' song. The fact that he can sing that high and that low is pretty impressive. (in my opinion :) )

I like Young, Dumb and Ugly, as I said earlier in this topic. I don't think it's a style parody of any one particular metal band, I think it's just a conglomerate style parody of a bunch of the metal bands from the '80's.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

... I must say your leather is very sophisticated on this nice hot day! Not really. I like the part when he mentions whearing leather on the hottest day. And Paying his phone bill when it way over due.

I like Alapalooza, and YD&U, but if I had to choose an Al album, this one would be my least favorite. None of the songs really stick out to me as a favorite. Even the parodies are among his most mediocre. YD&A usually gets some groans out of me but rarely laughter. It's still one of my favorite songs on the album though. Having said that, I just bought Alapalooza. I used to have the tape but I lost it a long time ago.
