when you guys are doing a parody, do you get the sheet music, or can you learn the song by ear?

We write our parts from scratch. It would be difficult to get exact parts by looking at published sheet music anyway; those things are generally oversimplified for guitar or piano players, and I have yet to find anyone who transcribes drum parts exactly.
