XM has a program for each decade of music called the "IT" List where they play practically every major song from each decade straight through in date order.

Al is well represented in the 80s, yet mentioned only once in the 90s. What's up with that?

All of Al's parodies are played right before or after the original song. None of Al's original songs are on these lists. They did add The Hot Rocks Polka to the 80s list which is played right before The Rolling Stones' Start Me Up.

I don't understand the logic behind which of Al's songs are played and which ones aren't. I'm just glad he's included.

Anyway, all Al references and the complete play list from each decade are below:

80s “IT” Music, starts Midnight ET Tuesday, Sept. 14

Wow....seeing as how Amish Paradise was bigger than any of those songs (With the possible exception of Eat and Nirvana)

Oh well, more attention for our boy, regardless!

Lots of airplay for Al. There's not a downside to that. Except that a NEW song would be nice. C'mon, XM, put Trash Day or Couch Potato or eBay on there!
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Yes....but in order to play any of those songs, you need to know they exist, Thanks, Eminem! :P

Because Eminem is the one who squashed Poodle Hat's publicity by not allowing a Couch Potato video....it's sarcastic

That's very cool that Al is represented in the 80's so well, but he should definitely be better represented on the 90's list.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

I emailed XM to tell them that I think Al is very under represented in the 90s IT! List.

I sent them a list of Al's parodies that correspond to the originals that are already on the list. I also sent the Al's polkas which contain many more of the songs on the list.

Here's the response I got:

========================================

Hi.

Thanks for your email.

I have printed it and saved it, and will look into getting these on the next time IT! Airs, which will most likely be in 2005.

Thanks very much for your list.

Needless to say, I'm not holding my breath!
