I am thankful for all that Al and TBITB have done for me. Last summer, a friend of mine passed away, and Al's music helped me through that. Then later in the summer, my other friends father passed away. I miss them both. Before that I was in a car accident and the people in the ambulence told me to sing. That's when I found out that it may offend medical people to sing Like A Surgeon.
But I'll never forget the first time that Al helped me. My best guy friend lent me his BHD cassette the same day that I was going to kill myself. I put in the tape and Everything You Know Is Wrong came on and I realized that I didn't know anything. Everything that I thought was so important (popularity) didn't really matter, I would never see these people again, so what did it matter?
Now, I am proud to say that Al helped me become more confident. I have a solid group of friends locally, and a huge forum of people who give me the time of day, and don't think that I'm just some crazy obsessive person. I am a better person because of Al and TBITB, and I will never forget what they've done for me.

It's nice to have this topic "bumped" every now and again because we harvest new reasons to be thankful to Al. He's doing more good than he knows.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I just realized that I never said that I was thankful for Al. It's funny, because I always think about how grateful I am for Al and all TBITB, and all the people who have influenced Al's life, but I've never really expressed it. While I've never really had anything traumatic in my life, Al's music has still made a huge difference in my life. I think without Al, my life would be very different. I wouldn't laugh nearly as often, and I really don't think I would be nearly as happy. Al's music has made me laugh when I just didn't feel like laughing. Even though I've never had traumatic experiences, I've still been down about things plenty of times. Sometimes things just haven't been going right, and I always have turned to Al during those times. I know that everyone here knows how much Al's music can cheer you up when you're down. I use Al's music for all moods. When I'm happy, sad, angry, whatever. If I didn't have Al, life would be much harder. So thank you Al, for spreading your wonderful sense of humor to all of us. And thanks to Bermuda, Steve, Jim, and Ruben for all you've done.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

I've loved Al's music since I was a young teen and would sneak my radio under my covers on Sunday nights to listen to the Dr. Demento show with the radio pressed up against my ear so I could have it turned down waay low. Al's music has again and again really been almost an escape for me, a way to forget the worries and troubles of the world, and be light-hearted and silly for awhile again. And now that my world seems to have fallen apart, again I am SO THANKFUL that Al and the band are there for me, with CD's I can pop in when the gloom seems to overwhelm me, to concerts that I can look forward to seeing, and when I'm there completely forget the outside world for a few precious hours. Al should be charging a therapy bill for this stuff, because there's no denying the therapeutic qualities of his music. I know with my family and friends' support, and Al's wonderful music to listen to, I can make it through anything.
