But 3 times to review a decade? Might as well just tape one show that's 3 hours for each year!

Yes, they were funny, and I'd watch if Al was going to be covered. But anything beyond 3 would be overkill.

Does anyone else have that feeling? Or am I alone?  :lookaround:
No, I agree. Heck, I got sick of the concept back during "I Love the '70s."

I don't know who selects the topics to cover, but most of it is very much "off the mark." I don't remember the 1970s as well as I would like to, but I know the stupid "dancing baby" thing wasn't anything more than a blip on the 1990s pop culture radar...hardly worthy of making it the show's logo.

And instead of actually making one feel nostalgic for these things, which they did quite successfully in the first "I Love the '80s," now they're content with just finding someone to make a glib, deadpan comment on it. Sorry, but I'll pull out my MST3K DVDs if I want to hear sarcastic riffing about cheesy things.

VH1 just hates to let a novel, successful concept go. How many times did "Pop-Up Video" air during any given day? Or "Behind the Music?" This is simply a very thinly veiled attempt to milk the success of a mini-series for everything it's worth.

I actually wouldn't have a problem with that if VH1 didn't steal the concept from the BBC in the first place.

Same here. By that point, I was rolling my eyes. Still had some funny moments, but nothing like the original I Love the 80's, which I thought was witty and informative... and it had Al.

Besides, I'm far removed from the 70's, so many of the things were a miss to me.

It is? Oh brother. Terminator 2 was a bigger pop-culture phenomenom than the "dancing baby" (and for a very good reason).

Yes, or learn how to regulate it. They're swamping us with these novel mini-series. It would be like having MST3K on every day. Instead of doing every friggin' decade over and over, maybe they should have a 1 or 2 hour special at the end of the year covering the fads and events of the year (example: air something on 2004 in December of 2004). Don't over show it, either. That way, it's current, garners witty commentary, and won't be over-killed.

Oh, and it should have Al, too. :Y

I agree. This I Love the [Fill in decade here] concept is already really old. It got old after the first episode of I Love the 80's. How much longer are they going to milk this?
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Aren't they already cramming that idea down our throats with "Best Week Ever?" <_<

They did have a Best of 2003 special last year. I think it was two or three hours long.
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

They have I love LAST WEEK/MONTH also! (Best Week/Month ever)

Actually, I love Last Month is basically all the stuff from the 4 "I Love Last Week" episodes from that month...

>:S

Why can't they just let Al do a year-end retrospective instead?? "Weird Al's Guide to 2004" would be infinitely funnier than "I Love the Best Week of '04" or whatever.
