It didn't seem as mean-spirited as I thought, except for the Al's parents questions. But AFTER the interview ended (there's more after it), they were VERY mean. I mean, they COULD have avoided the question, but NO..... he "Couldn't not ask the question".

Wow, a DOUBLE negative!

Well, yes, the interview, was not mean spirited. But the talking behind Al's back was very uncalled for.

I think calling them mean-spirited would imply that they were sadistic and intentionally attempting to hurt Al. These interviewers seem more as though they were inherently and inadvertently insensitive, as though their lives and careers have left them completely void of the concept of compassion.

Or not developed compassion yet. Sometimes people have to experience pain themselves before they can "feel with" someone else in that situation.

Well, as OE said, Life will teach them. But I wonder why even the youngest member of this forum has more sensitivity than those bleepers.

Probably because we see Al as (imagine this!) a real human being, who has treated us with kindness, and we want to see him treated the same way. Any really diehard Weird Al fan gets around pretty quickly to seeing past the "Weird" part, but apparently a lot of people who work in media never manage to do so.

It almost seems as if they believe that Al (because he's a celebrity) isn't a real human being. As if the death of his parents was part of his act and therefore somehow funny. It boggles my mind, but I guess it only goes to prove that you don't have to have brains or a heart to have a radio show.

At least a good thing came from this interview. He's allready working on the new album!

But they didnt have to go on and on about his parents for 2 minutes afterwards! And then laughing about it. Al was right. The interview spiraled downward from there. It is good to hear his voice again though.
