Meeting Al
Say, did anyone here attend Al's concert at the Greek Theater in LA last year? I didn't get to go, but am going this year. For those who were at the last one, were you able to meet with Al after the show? I know it varies from venue to venue, but what was the story at the Greek? Did you mill around the stage, parking lot, or someplace else after the show?
Thanks,
Meadows

I may be wrong, but I think the last time Al performed at the Greek was Sept. of 1999. But if you're talking about the OC Fair last year, after the concert we all just stood around near the stage where we knew his security people would come out, and no, it doesn't happen after every single concert, but Al does do "meet and greets" fairly regularly. He gave us that privilege on Thursday night of that week...I'd say there were about 50 of us that were led back to meet him, take ONE photo, and get AN autograph (after all, he didn't have ALL NIGHT!) Thanks, Al!

I think the Greek tends to be a less favorable venue because it's more or
less Al's & TBITB's home base. I was not there, but IIRC, Al was especially nervous about this show because there were so many of his friends and other local luminaries in the audience. He was later quoted as saying he "felt like his head was going to explode". Fortunately, (especially for the folks in the first few rows), that didn't occur.
It also depends on the size of the after-show crowd, along with lots of other variables, but from my experience, his average of coming out after meet & greet is about 25% (at least here in CA.).
But that's OK, we can all wait together anyway

You're absolutely right. I mistyped! I meant the last time Al toured (with RWS).
Good catch.

I like that. It has a certain logical consistency. If one is a friend of Al, then one is a local luminary. And considering how quickly Joel Miller was spotted on the PH cover art, it's hard to argue the point.
