I've suspected at a couple of those recent, extremely wacky red/green photo ops (question: do red/green photo ops get shown on the Red Green Show?) that Al might have been trying to keep the cameras on himself-- so the photographers wouldn't pester Suzanne.like_im_27again @ Apr 1 2004, 10:15 PM wrote:Ditto.scottidog @ Apr 1 2004, 09:36 AM wrote: I haven't seen this show, but Al does crank up the Wackiness Factor when he appears professionally in public. If you doubt that, just check out the red/green carpet photos of him at wireimage.com. I guess that's one of the reasons it took me so long to become a fan. I adore him now, and can tolerate the ocassional "Weird Al" attack, but if that's all I knew of him, I wouldn't be looking to see him in a live show anytime soon.
He might feel the wackiness in public is expected of him, and it probably is expected by his younger fans.

"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Um, Manda you did see my edited version right? So you're not mad at me?Manda @ Apr 1 2004, 05:13 PM wrote: Ok I like the performance. It was a good Elvis routine. The way for anyone to like me here is to agree. So I agree the performance was great.![]()

And actually for EVERYONE to like you that's what you'd have to do. But who cares if some people don't accept your opinions? I personally don't care if someone hates me. That's THEIR opinion.

I think EVERYONE does at least a little Elvis. He kind of set the rules for Pop As We Know It.
For the record, I do not ever want to see Al naked. That would be... inappropriate.
I love the WBUL routine because he's taking that bump-and-grind onstage sexiness to a whole new ridiculous place. The exaggerated movements, the grimaces, the loopy 70's ladykiller white suit he wears in concert-- he's putting an absurd spotlight both on the sexy-singer schtick *cough*prince*cough* and on the immaturity and crassitude of going "fishing" for women with pickup lines. Is crassitude a word? If it isn't, it should be. Anyway, I think WBUL is a very family-values-friendly song at its heart.
