Re: making mp3 into music

Post by Dr_Dad »

QUOTE Sorry, this is kind of off topic, but can anyone tell me how I can convert an mp3 into something my CD player can understand?  I downloaded the Simpsons clips with Al in mp3 format and I want to put them onto a CD for listening convenience.  It would be a pain to drag my PC around everywhere I go, not to mention all the extension cords I'd need.

PM or email me if you can help.  Thanks.

Dave

Dave, I'll post it here so that others who may want to do it can also convert their MP3's to CD.

All you need is:

(1) Almost any music playing or CD ripping program

(2) A CD-RW drive

(3) The directory location on your hard drive of the file you want to convert

All you need to do is convert the files to WAV form. Standard CD players only recognize WAV files. [Some newer home and portable CD players can recognize MP3's -- and even a few car stereos now too!] Almost any music playing program can convert MP3's to WAV's, and WAV's to MP3's. Check their instructions or help files for details.

Be aware that WAV files are bigger than MP3 files, and thus you can't fit more than 12-18 standard 3+ minute-long WAV songs on a CD-RW.

One commonly used music ripping program [and one of my favorites] is MusicMatch Jukebox [it often comes bundled now with many CD and DVD burners, but can be downloaded for free off the Net from this site]. It will automatically convert MP3 files into WAV as you select files for burning onto a CD-RW disc for use in a car. However, you can also manually convert individual files from MP3 to WAV by doing the following:

(a) Open the MusicMatch Jukebox program.

(B) Click the File heading on the menu bar.

© Select "Convert".

(d) At the bottom left of the screen, make sure that "Source Data Type" is set to "MP3", and that at the bottom right, that "Destination Source Type" is set to "WAV".

(e) Click on folders in the upper left Explorer window until you reach the Source directory where your Simpsons MP3 file is, then click on that file to highlight it.

(f) Then click on folders in the upper right Explorer window until you reach the Destination directory where you want your new Simpsons WAV file to go [I'd suggest the same location for now].

(g) Hit the Start button at the bottom right, and you're set!

Hope that was what you were looking for! :)

It's not known when it will re-air yet.

A little late to respond to this, Dr. Dad, but thanks, I think between what Bobbi told me and what you posted, that's what I was looking for. Unfortunately I can't try it out now because my laptop with the CD burner is out on loan for a while. But thanks anyway!

Simpsons Screenshots

Post by deagh »

I'm sure those of you who were looking for them have already found them, but quite a few nice screenshots and other photos are at weirdal.com in the pictures section.

I also didn't think much of the episode except for Al. But then they are running out of things to do after 14 years, I suppose.

There's actually a CD burning program called Nero that does that for you. It's great.
