07/18/19 - Bank of NH Pavilion - Gilford, NH

Post by NH Weird Al Fan »

Bank of NH Pavilion just posted their announcement on Facebook a little early - at midnight Eastern Time! I've seen Al here several times, and it's a great venue. I will definitely be going to this show! :yay:

Here is the venue's info page for this event. So far, I do not see any VIP package prices or info.

Maybe I'll change my mind when the show gets closer, but I've decided not to go to this show. It's a Thursday night, an hour and 45-minute drive, and the available seats weren't very good. I'm sad now. ;(

Ugh, that's too bad, Melissa. Those are the same reasons I decided not to go to Foxwoods.

I'll be going and for the first time I'll meet him. Been a fan ever since I was 9 or so and I'm now 31.

Really fun show! I'd deliberately avoided any setlist spoilers (I figured he wouldn't change it up much, with different orchestras and all). I'd expected a show back to the greatest hits, so I was pleasantly surprised that the first half especially had some deep cuts, originals, old parodies - my first ever Jurassic Park! - and just generally more odd and unusual songs. No Vanity Tour of course, but retained more elements of that than I expected. The second half was back to the hits, which was fine. I missed the Yoda chant though - always the high point of what is a pretty tired encore by now.

Big outdoor venue. Saw him there in 2007 as well. It's pretty nondescript, some food/beer venders when you enter and then a big open shell of seating. Pretty full in the seats, though the lawn looked mostly empty. Lively crowd, lots of laughs at the punchlines. Couple of unexpected confetti blasts.

Orchestra opened with some movie themes. They added a lot to some of the Al songs, on others they didn't seem to add much (or were maybe just hard to hear). Backing singers sounded good to these ears - a smart addition he should keep.

Really my only complaint: Al should have acknowledged the orchestra more. 41 people busting their butts learning all this new music, for I imagine not much money, and he mostly ignored them. The one time he did thank them he got their name wrong (it was Symphony NH, for the record). Small thing, but he's such a class act generally I think he should make a little more effort to publicly thank them.

I had an absolute blast last night. Show was great, and everything sounded amazing.

I had only seen him in cramped indoor venues, so an outdoor venue with a much more animated crowd added to the show immensely. (It was hilarious watching people actively trying to wave him over to our section for OMM and Tacky)

Peak experience! My husband, mother, daughter, and I attended this show. Such great energy from the crowd and performers alike! We all agreed that people just seemed happy to be there. We had the VIP package- my only real complaints are that it was SUCH a late night, and the meet and greet was really rushed. We didn't have time for more than a quick photo and a "thank you." But a wonderful evening nonetheless.

As for me, well, Al sat on my lap for OMM and I got an orange scarf to take home. :D
