ThisGuyMarty wrote:Hope this is cool to post in this thread. I think it's awesome that Al and the band are doing straight covers of songs they enjoy. I'd like to make some predictions of songs that I think they will cover during the tour.

1. Beat On The Brat - Ramones
2. Surfin' Bird - The Trashmen
3. School's Out - Alice Cooper
4. Louie Louie - The Kingsmen
5. I'm Henry the 8th, I am - Herman's Hermits
6. Killer Queen - Queen
7. Radio Radio - Elvis Costello
8. Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting - Elton John
9. What I Like About You - The Romantics
10. Loser - Beck

That's just a handful of my guesses. Any guesses from you guys? :^)
Since there doesn't seem to be any pattern to the songs he's been covering, any attempt at even trying to speculate would just be a list of random songs

Be that as it may, I would still think that "Close To You" and "Radio, Radio" are likely candidates to get played, as they are both covers Al and the band have done in the last few years.

Also, Al has performed "Smoke on the Water" before according to the set list page, so it seems perfectly possible that Al will do songs they've done before.

I was going off of the iTunes playlist Al put together a few years ago and radio interviews he's done where he played songs he enjoys.

Here's a few more I could see him doing:
Suffragette City - David Bowie
Squeeze Box - The Who
Werewolves Of London - Warren Zevon

That would be really cool 8) Anything from Polkas On 45 would be great to see Al and the guys do a straight cover of.

Basically it will be something they all like or always wanted to play together, but also something popular with a recognizable musical intro so the audience gets the joke right away.

I wouldn’t expect covers of too many modern songs as they tend not to have that starting musical hook by design. Most likely candidates would be any original for the concert parodies they did in the 80s as the band would at least be familiar with them - Crazy On You, Whole Lotta Love, Feel Like Making Love, etc. Also anything from an 80s polka, either album or live as they fit the popular and easily recognizable criteria.

I seem to remember Al playing a longer version of it during the extended encore at one of the Albuquerque shows once.
