Alapalooza’s biggest flaw is the different showrooms. I understand the reasoning behind it, but the idea that anyone would rather watch an episode of The Weird Al Show over a panel is unimaginable! The fact that the con just sort of ends without any big finale and just with drinks also hurts it a tiny bit.

While I agree anyone who skips a panel to watch TV is dumb, people might leave their child there or just might not wanna go to Karoke. Their call.

Though, I'm not sure what you mean by "no big finale and just drinks"? We have a closing ceremony, and Drunk History is a show Al played in, if that's what you're referencing.

Okay, I think we could be waiting here all week if we wait for everyone to read all of both proposals, so let’s find out what Adrian thought. Adrian, let’s go through this one item at a time so we can really get into the details of what you thought about every aspect of these convention proposals.

Sure it does. It's in reference to the Dare to be Stupid days when Al called his band The Stupid Band.

Hold on, Team Groovy also had several flaws in their proposal. I also criticized several holes in their con. I gave my unbiased opinion here.

I am not Team Groovy or Team Pobeda. Only gave my thoughts.

So, first, what are your thoughts on the two names that the teams came up with: Stupid Fest and Alapalooza?

Honestly, I feel like both names could use a little work. They both work just fine. However, "Stupid Fest!", while obviously referencing "Dare To Be Stupid", doesn't have the all-encompassing Al feel that the names "ALCON" and AL FEST" had. It doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well as those ancestors' names do, either. Meanwhile, "ALAPALOOZA" just feels like it's inviting confusion. At the end of the day, I think I'd like to be able to enter the name of the convention into Google and any other search function and be able to only get results about the upcoming con, not have to sort out results with the specific album vs. info on the con.

Therefore, the edge here goes to TEAM 1/TEAM POBEDA.

Okay. And just in case there is any confusion, Adrian had no advance knowledge of which team did which proposal, of course, so when he says Team 1, he is talking about Team Pobeda. And when he says Team 2, he means Team Groovy.

So what did you think of their date and location choices?

I'm calling this a push. I get why both teams went for LA, but neither one seems to have considered that, during the dates mentioned, Al may possibly be on tour and nowhere near LA at the time. Perhaps the dates could have been adjusted, or maybe a neutral, more centrally located location could have been used, or one team could have taken the slightly risky (for this challenge) route of declaring that they would work to sync up the location of the con with Al's tour schedule. Whatever the best solution may be, there's really no edge to be given here.
