Who's up for a "Weird Al" convention in 2012?

He who's tired of Weird Al is tired of life.

Who's up for a "Weird Al" convention in 2012?

Post by pigletk »

I posted this on the Facebook group and Jon thought it should be here as well :)

"Ok how many of you would attend an end of the world themed Alpocalypse Alfest (like event) held in Las Vegas ?
Who would you want to see there and how much would you be willing to pay per ticket?

Also, who would be willing to help plan the event...getting stars, decorations, t-shirt designs, etc...?

I think this would be an awesome event but I have never planned anything like this before :/

Thanks for your honest opinions"

And by honest - go ahead and tell me if you think this is a bad idea or if you have better location options - Orlando, Anaheim, Costa Mesa again.....anywhere...preferebly somewhere where people can help me do this :)

Also does anyone know the ball park amount of how much Alfest was in the red.....I am up for paying for some of a "red" amount but nothing too crazy ;)

Thanks everyone!!!

Kelly, this is a great idea as well as a massive undertaking. I recommend having a private conversation with Vikki about all of the details about how Al Fest went (and what you're up against) before you go any further.

I was just testing the waters to see if anyone would even be interested in going and/or be willing to help..... :)

Hold it in DC, so that I can attend as well as Barack Obama. ;)

But, no one wants to go to DC. :P

I would be interested in going, if it could be somewhere in the middle of the country, like Chicago. Or somewhere on the East, like the Orlando mention. Of course, Las Vegas is easier to plan, for you, and also may be more applicable to the band...if they'd like to attend again, since it's in the West.

I also wouldn't mind helping out, in whatever way that I can. Not sure what I could really do, though.

Ahhh...could it possibly be in 2013 instead? And like Jeremy said, I think Chicago would be a good place. Just throwing in my two cents.

But, the world's ending in 2012. We won't make it to 2013.

If convenience for the largest number of fans is the top priority, the Northeast or Southern California would be the best locations. If convenience for you is the top priority, Las Vegas should be the location. If likelihood of getting Al, the band, or other celebrities to attend is the top priority, then the closer to Los Angeles the better.

Vegas would be pretty cool, and it would give me an excuse to go back to Vegas. On the other hand, I have friends in Chicago, so I'd have a place to stay. At any rate, wherever it ends up being held, I would do my best to be there.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.
