Both of those bands have released children's albums. TMBG has even won a Grammy for one of theirs!

It was Doug Fieger's enthusiasm for "My Bologna" that got it released on Capitol. And it was Al's brief stint on Capitol that first convinced him he might have a serious future in music...

If not for Mr. Fieger, "Weird Al" Yankovic might never have gotten a record contract.

RIP, good sir. And thank you.

RIP Doug Fieger

Im a lot more upset about this than about MJ
The Knack were a terrific tight little band who put out one of the best albums of that era. I was 15 when My Sharona came out and that song is very nostalgia laden for me.
As Al fans we all owe Doug so much too. From all I have read he was a bit of a philosopher and a courageous man as well as Al and Suzanne and Nina's personal friend. I am sure he will be greatly missed.

Al and Doug appeared on TV together once - in an episode of VH1's "The List." If memory serves, that same episode also featured Emo Philips, Jackie Collins and Mario Van Peebles. I'll try to find the tape and post it on YouTube in the near future.

His Sharona: http://music-mix.ew.com/2010/02/15/doug ... ck-sharon/

It's nice to know that Mr. Fieger and Sharona Alperin remained lifelong friends.
