It's much the same here (if anyone listens to polka at all, which they don't).mellow weasel wrote:I have no idea what place in music culture polka occupies in USA, but here polka is almost exclusively old people's music. 50 is a too young, the average polka fan would be around 60-70

Re: Hangin' 27 - Al Surfing
Oh, I can believe that. I will add that my parents never had a single polka record in the house. We would just hear live polka music in various places. They were probably in their mid-40s in those days. Kind of a weird story, but my friend Suzie Kirkham (also German) and I were at the mall one day, and there was a live polka band there. We polkaed down with our band selves that day! We knew how to do the dances because of our parents. I think we were like 16-17.minnick27 wrote:I go to musikfest in Pa every year and they have a huge tent that is mainly polka bands and it is packed from open to close. And it is 70 and up

I remember this video. It is kinda old, actually, like circa 2009, but yeah, still a neat videoDriew_La_27 wrote:Here is Coolio personally addressing Amish Paradise and why he didn't participate in Al's Brain

I don't remember seeing that. That's pretty interesting. I'm glad Coolio has come around and changed his thinking.Driew_La_27 wrote:Here is Coolio personally addressing Amish Paradise and why he didn't participate in Al's Brain

This is the original, I believe. It was actually 2011, not 2009 like I had previously stated.

I hadn't seen that video before, either. I'm glad he owned up to being too full of himself.
