Isn't that how the whole Lady Gaga SNAFU happened? Permission was asked via her manager, who said "no" on her behalf without even consulting with her. (So the story goes...)anthontherun wrote: Pirner is the only writer credited, so I wonder who Al contacted about permission if it wasn't him.

Re: Original Artists' Response
Robin Thicke, Lorde, Pharrell, and Imagine Dragons all weighed in after the album came out. The Pixies and SCOTS both promoted their respective style parodies. Haven't heard about any of the polka targets.

What was Pharrell's official response to Tacky/Word Crimes? I think that's the only one I haven't seen.

This was mentioned in "Tacky" topicKillingsworth wrote:What was Pharrell's official response to Tacky/Word Crimes? I think that's the only one I haven't seen.

It's not much of a quote, but first I've heard Pharrell acknowledge the parody. Strangely, the one parodied artist we haven't heard any kind of reaction or acknowledgement from from is Iggy Azalea, who we sure saw a lot of prior to the parody being released.

Re: Original Artists' Response
Gotta say, he really lucked out with his choices this time around. I think that's another reason this album is as refreshing as it is: No Gaga Sagas or "label miscommunications".
Also, while he wasn't an Al target and only incidentally became linked with Al this week, this response from Jason Mraz to Al on Twitter deserves to be mentioned:

Class actSaying you don't like @alyankovic is like saying you don't like the Muppets. He's a Mandatory Mainstay! Congrats! You make us feel good!
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?
