Re: In Memory Of Nick And Mary Yankovic
Though a longtime fan, I only became a regular on this forum in July, 2011. When April 9, 2012 came along, I had NO idea that Nick & Mary’s anniversary had just passed until a few days later, as this thread hadn’t been active since 2010. I felt so bad that it had slipped under my radar that I wanted to memorize the date and honor Al’s parents in some way this year.
So, dear Nick & Mary, thank you for raising this boy who has brought joy and laughter to millions. It is so obvious that you were such good parents. Your cameos in his work were always a treat, and those old home movies are absolute treasures -- we fans are so lucky to have them! They give us a glimpse into your life back then. The love emanating from that home is palpable.
Please watch over your son today and help him find comfort and peace. Also, much respect to Nick for his service in the war.
You are not forgotten. R.I.P. Nick & Mary

Re: In Memory Of Nick And Mary Yankovic
Sweet Nick & Mary,
I know I should be much more cordial and address you both as 'Dear', but the honest truth is I refer to your wonderful son Alfred as 'Sweet Al' much, much more often than I do his more famous handle 'Weird Al'; and, based on how his genuine, radiant sweetness surely must have been passed on to him from the two lovely people who raised him, I feel it is much more fitting that I call you two 'sweet' --
that is what you were, that is what you are, and that is what you always have been and always will be.
Thank you for the sweetness that you glowed with whenever we saw you.
Thank you for the sweetness that you brought into the world and named Alfred.
Thank you for just being there.
We know you're still here, and we love you so much.
Please look down from Heaven for a moment,
and say hello to Sweet Al for me.
