So you don't think you'd still be a fan if Al had been a girl?

Not being a fan of an artist based solely on their gender is insane.

Re: What if Al was a girl?
It can be, but female and male vocal ranges are different. Its entirely possible someone might not like how Alfred's songs sound in a female vocal range and thus not like them as much, which is totally fine. At that point it's not so much liking someone by gender, but a personal taste in music.
I still think I'd be a fan, but I definitely wouldn't be a part of a "Drooling over Al" topic as much as I am now. There'd be a 100% increase in.. particular.. fanarts. Fans may be modest towards Alfred, but I think Allison would have... a different sort of fanbase.

Re: What if Al was a girl?
what if Al was a girl years before his success and had a Caitlyn Jenner type experience thus becoming Weird Al instead of Weird Allison? would you still be drooling?
this picture, that appeared in a previous version of the famous Drooling Over Al series, always made me think that Al looked eerily like Elaine from Seinfeld. (The picture is from a live version of "Germs").
also I am amazed that Al has not tackled Seinfeld in some way in any of his songs.

Yeah, with all the TV songs Al did in the 90's, you'd think he'd mention it at least once. I mean, he had a bunch of TV songs while it was still on the air. And I'd argue that it could have even have gotten a reference in Couch Potato, despite having already ended by 2003.

Re: What if Al was a girl?
So you mean "Allison" becoming "Alfred"? Which would be a reverse-Caitlyn Jenner. That would mean "Alfred" would be transmale/transmasculine.
Yes. Yes I would still be a fan, and yes, probably drooling, too.
However. I think it would really hurt their reputation? Especially if, as you say, this transition was way before they got famous. Thus, way before trans people were really 'accepted', which has only been recent. Now, maybe, if it was SUPER early, no one would really care because they never knew them before their fame. But even Caitlyn is having some backlash.

In other news, I think Allison in a fat suit for Fat isn't as funny/as great as Alfred in one. I think it would just come off as.. off putting? Like, I can see her dressing like a man fur something like Tacky. Fake glued on mustaches and all. But I think Fat would just be super awkward.
___
As for the Sienfield discussion; the actor for Kramer was Stanley in UHF. I just learned this since I thought the guy seemed very familiar but never made the connection due to his neurosis-like performance.

there's no question. Couch Potato would have been a great opportunity, although maybe Syndicated Inc. appeared too early for Seinfeld since it has gained proper notoriety mostly though syndication. Especially since Al was Kramer's first neighbor. it's almost like he went out of his way to not mention it.

As long as Allie Yankovic was just as clever and funny as Al, I don't see it making a huge difference. Of course, all the love songs would be way different.

Re: What if Al was a girl?
One More Minute, in my head, sounds HILARIOUS. I would imagine Allison would do it with like. A fake mustache but keep a similar look.
I would rather her love songs be in drag for the most part. I wouldn't want another Taylor Swift... Since Al has made a good number of love (or anti-love) songs.
I can only keep so many songs on my brain record-player; what other (Anti) love song would work? Or change.

Re: What if Al was a girl?
I don't think Allison would be another case of Taylor Swift. Al's anti-love songs are pretty different from the typical break up song. I don't think I could see Taylor Swift singing something like, “I'm So Sick of You" and expect to be taken seriously.
Putting her in drag would kind of defeat the purpose of having the gender change.
Confessions, Do I Creep You Out, I Was Only Kidding, You Don't Love Me Anymore, Since You've Been Gone, and Good Enough For Now are some more of them.
Wanna Be Ur Lover would be fairly interesting from Allison's perspective.
