I suppose I can post about this show, it's been almost 8 months but here it goes! This was the 1st of 4 shows I went to and 1st time meeting him ever :)
I flew in from Fargo the morning of this show so it was a long day! I have never been to Mobile so I had to rely on my gps. I found my way to my hotel that was a block away from Saenger. I drove by the theatre and was super excited when I saw the VIP flag flying outside! I was blaring his music as I drove by :D
The show was so awesome as usual, he walked by me for the Tacky entrance and I did get splashed by his water smells like Nirvana. During Wanna B Ur Lvr, I got the “stop drop and roll now, cuz baby, you’re on fire!” and poked me. It wasn’t a light tap, it was actually kinda hard!! haha!! For The Saga Begins, a lot of people (mostly ladies) went up to by the stage. There was some younger kids across the aisle from me and it was awesome to see them getting so excited during his show!
So after the show we were told to wait and we were brought to the last rows of the theatre seats so we didn't go backstage or anything. They set a table up for him by the doors to the actual theatre. So when he was ready he had to walk from the stage area to the back of the theatre - of course there was a hush as he walked back and a "WOOO!" from someone
I was sitting in the last row so I was one of the last ones but i could hear him talk to everyone... he definitely is soft spoken! So i was 5 feet away from him for about 20 minutes :) There was probably a smaller crowd, about 50 maybe if that.
Eventually I got to get up and meet him. I was telling myself "be cool, don't mumble, don't get nervous" (i tend to mumble, stutter, etc when i get nervous!!) but I was surprisingly coherent!! I figured I paid that much money to meet him, i'm not gonna say nothing!
“How are you?”
“Good–I mean great! - I should know better then to say that to you!!” I say
he laughed
“I flew from Fargo this morning to be here!” I eagerly say
“Oh wow!”
{posing for Picture}
He signs my Weird Al book
“Did you get this from Nerd Block?” he asked
“Yep, I forgot to cancel so they can thank you for that!”
As I start to walk away
“I’m going to both of your Minnesota shows!!” so i pointed to my shirt. I made a Minnesota shirt with Darwin on it, and a twine ball unraveling to fargo :) i guess I wanted him to notice it!! I can't remember exactly what he said after that, it was over pretty quick!!
I did walk around the building afterwards and noticed a lot of people waiting outside his bus, I think most of them were at the VIP party. I thought about waiting but I didn't.
All in all the show was awesome of course and glad I spent the money to see him in another area of the country. I did get to visit other states while I was down there, so it was a worthwhile trip!

You, my dear, just made my day! I was there, too, as an usher, and that was the night that my life changed forever! :accordion: :yay:

Haha! My pleasure!! Were you working at the middle door to the theatre? I remember talking to someone, to ask where my seat was.
It was so awesome to be so close to the stage and it was a nice, nice theatre! I love those kind of theatres. also, everyone was in Mobile was really nice!

I became a huge fan in June of '15 but going to my first concert of his in Charleston sure cinched my fandom. I didn't meet him but I got to touch him (unintentionally actually) during WBUL. His concerts are so awesome :inlove: I wish he had an ongoing show in Vegas or something!! :accordion:
