Sorry to bring up an older show, but on CBC they mentioned the new whatever centre it is (where Highfield Square was) will have 9000 seats. The Coliseum has 6000 and the Casino has 2000 (rounded, of course).

Now, is Al contracted to play at the Casinos? Or do you think if he ever came around again he'd go to the new 9k seat centre? 2k seems quite small, since I think the coliseum didn't have anything going on that weekend for 4k more seats. If 2k is 'too little' for a Czar experience, maybe there is a better chance at the new centre! Not sure when it'll be completed. Hopefully within Al's touring career.

Was there a Czar thing at the Halifax shows?
Edit: Apparently the Schooner Showroom is only 650 seats??? The ScotiaCentre is 11k. Why are they booking so small??

Before that was all they needed at one point, but now I think the booking peeps will be doing bigger venues than the Schooner next time. They probably didn't think it would sell out, they were wrong. Same with a lot of the shows on this tour, so they will probably be doing a lot of bigger venues on the next tour, but still showrooms and casinos a lot too 'cause Al and the guys love them, much more intimate.

Considering Al hasn't come around this way since 1999, I'm not surprised 650 sold out within (literally) minutes. I'm sure they would have expected that, too, considering???
I'm sure the people there got a super good view, though! I just find it weird that some shows can be over 10k people or more, and then there's this one show that's hardly over 500. Just... seems weird to me. I guess I'm used to musicians being about the money than the genuine fan experience. Go Al! <3

I feel fortunate to have seen him in such an intimate venue! There were no 'bad' seats. I've been to a lot of larger venues (ahem, Scotiabank Center, or whatever they're calling it these days) and it definitely loses that close vibe pretty quickly.

But it was stressful sitting with my clickin' finger primed and ready to buy tickets as fast as humanly possible ;) I knew it would sell out. My friend was like "you're ridiculous, I'm just going to get tickets in a couple days"...mmhmm. Tell me again how ridiculous I am. Haha.

No, I can't complain about seeing him at the Casino at all! I think it was the perfect size, really. But I do wonder why there was no Czar; if it was too small attendance wise, or if they thought they really needed to book it to Maine ASAP (it's only a 4 hour drive). I do think the people on the floor on the very left and right may have ha a bad or obstructed view, though.

I bought my tickets within the hour they opened - during class. My classmates thought I was crazy. They must think they're too "cool" to see Al, I guess. Their loss.

That's fine if they are to cool. That means more Al and the guys for us. I would dig seeing Al in a small venue. Then he can spend some more time with the audience.

BullMoose, in answer to your question, Halifax did have Czar packages. Yes, the venue was a shockingly small 650+ seats, as you noticed! But they had Czar, so I don't think it was a matter of how many people the venue held.

Rockabillynurse, I feel your pain with the WBUL video footage. In 2012, I got gyrated upon at a concert for the first (and as of yet only) time. It was an amazing experience that I wanted to relive. A spotlight was shining so brightly in my face at the time that I could barely see Al (basically just his pants, his microphone, and a hazy outline around the rest of him), so I also wanted to see it from the rest of the audience's perspective. But no video ever surfaced... not even a single photograph!! And I searched all over the place and for a long time, too. So, I understand!!

Yankomaniac, I was interested to hear you say that Al and the guys love showrooms and casinos. I didn't know that. Were you talking to one (or more) of them about it? If so, curious what they said!

I'm sorry you never got ahold of any footage from that! The struggle is real! I feel very lucky to have found the pictures I have from kind strangers sitting around me (thank you, Internet!). I would still kill for a video but at least I got some cool pictures to remember the moment!

Those people are so lucky! Moncton getting ripped, once again. Hope for next time!
It really could have been an issue of getting to Maine on time. To me it's only 4 hours, but the show ended at 11. If they have to sleep, it'll be like 10 or noon before they leave unless they drive overnight. Which... I don't think they do?

Yeah HalifaxKat Steve and Jon have both mentioned they like the showroom atmosphere, they really love Turning Stone in Verona, which is where Steve would have said that to me and me and Jon reminisced about where we had first met a couple weeks ago here in Ottawa and he guessed Turning Stone which was correct, and he mentioned how much he loved that place, Steve was standing there with us and agreed and I can only assume Al likes them just as much because of how many times they still do them. The first time I met Al was outside the casino in Verona and he came out with some jewelry store and other shopping bags with stuff he had just purchased, so I think they like to play/stay there and maybe Al likes to shop in the fancy stores before checking out. That one place in particular is amazing, haven't seen them live in many other showrooms though. But evidently they seem to like them.
