World of Weird Al Yankovic

The WOWAY Awards are a popular event here. A few people were wondering if we will be having another show in 2016, or if we'll wait another four years before doing another one. A WOWAY Awards show takes a lot of work to put on, but it's worth it if people want it. If someone would like to nominate a host or suggest categories or anything else for the next WOWAY Awards, you can do that here as well as vote in the poll. I'll do it again if there's enough uproar.

Is 2016 too soon? Should we do the WOWAY Awards yearly? What are your thoughts?

I really would like a WOWAY Awards in 2016. I think doing the WOWAY Awards annually is a good idea.

While they always are a really fun event, I think it'd be best to keep it at least as a bi-annual thing.

Whatever happens I want to make some videos with my *super secret project*.

At most, every other year. Maybe every 3 years is even better. I love the WOWAY Awards. They were fun to host, and fun to watch someone else host. But I worry that if they happen every year, they will lose their impact and the potential for comedy will be watered down. Best to wait a while to see what the new forum inside jokes are in a couple years.

I'm with Joe and Jon--with all the work that goes into it on the host's end, it feels like too much to ask to do it annually (and after what she did with it this year, I definitely vote for Alicia to hold on to the reins). Four years is way too long though. I think every two years is a good amount.

Another vote for holding it off.

I remember when it was every year (I think we even held a 6 month one at one point, I don't remember), it became just a going through the motions kind of deal rather than special event.


It's the same with Survivor. It just becomes a "Oh this again? Well I suppose...." type of thing if we hold it every year. (And take it from me....the worst host in the history of both! )

Speaking of things that may happen in 2016...

Wait until there's enough new content on the forum to justify having an awards show. If that's in six months, fine. If it takes two years, that's fine too. I probably wouldn't wait more than two years though as memories are short, and some award worthy stuff that might get lost or forgotten.
