Welcome to the WOWAY Awards 2014 Nomination Process!
Thank you all for joining me on this momentous journey. I am grateful to be your host for this year's Awards.
Our last WOWAY Awards was about four years ago, and many things have changed since that time.
The 2010 WOWAY Awards had 27 categories. This year's Awards will have 55 categories, in honor of Mr. Yankovic's birthday this year.
Plus, 55 is 27 twice, plus one for good luck!
An important thing to note for the nominations: the earliest eligibility date is November 16, 2009, with the end date being August 5, 2014. Nothing can be nominated from before or after those dates.
Another thing to note is that any member who has been permanently banned cannot be nominated for any WOWAY Awards.
Here's how the nominations process will work:
I will post two new categories daily, along with brief explanations of each. Each WOWAY member can only post a nomination for one person/place/thing per category. You can second as many nominations as you like. This time around, instead of posting a "seconded" post, you will just "like" the post with the nomination you would like to second. Once a nomination has been seconded, it will be counted as an official nomination. If a nomination post has not been "liked," it will not count as an official nomination.
Basically, this works pretty much the same way as it would with posting a "seconded" post except with much less clutter.
For any given category, you will have three days to nominate your choice for it. Furthermore, I will be introducing two new categories daily. It will go something like this - Today, you can still vote for Best Avatar and Best Signature, but since it is day three for both of those categories voting on those will close after today. Outstanding Achievement in Spoiler Avoidance is only on its second day of voting, so it will still be open another day after today. The two new categories added today will have three days open for you to nominate things for them. I will have a list on my daily post stating which categories you can vote for that day and which ones have been (recently) closed.
Implementing Jon's rule from the 2010 Awards - as administrator of these Awards, I reserve the right to add up to one additional nominee per category without any further feedback. I will never do so to give myself an advantage in winning any award, only to balance out categories that seemed too heavily favored in one direction or are otherwise not "filled out" enough.
Added Day 2:
*Please read the rules thoroughly before posting your nominations. We want all votes to count!!
*I left this out before - You cannot nominate yourself for any categories. However! Although it may be tacky, you are definitely encouraged to tell people why they should nominate you in the "Nominate/Vote For Me!" Topic. In fact, please do this whenever possible as there is quite a large window of eligibility for these categories (November 16, 2009 - August 5, 2014!) and even though you had that amazing signature everyone loved back in 2011, it may not be the first thing that comes to mind right now. So please, remind us!
*In the same vein, you can still only nominate once per category. If you picked someone for Best Avatar yesterday, you can't pick another person today. But by all means, please vote on the new categories as they come up!!
*You may subtly (or not so subtly) persuade others (who have not already nominated their one pick for that category!) in the "Nominate/Vote For Me!" topic to nominate your unofficial second choice for that category.
*Please keep to having one nomination per post! If you would like to nominate things for two different categories, please put them in two different posts so that when your post is Liked, I know which nomination has been seconded.
*Also, once a post has been Liked, it is officially a nomination and there is no real need to keep Liking the post, but you're free to do it anyway.
*Please only nominate people for categories that have been announced that day. Do not try to vote for people in categories that have not been announced yet as they may not even exist!! Also, once the voting on Best Avatar and Best Signature have closed and we move on to the next categories, you can no longer nominate people for Best Avatar or Best Signature, so please do it now or forever hold your peace.
*Again, there is no need to nominate people for Best Administrator, Best Moderator, or Best Band Member. The choices are already known.
*Please be specific in your nominations! It makes it much easier for me to add them to the list!
*Have FUN!!! It's the WOWAY Awards back in the flesh! Just be sure to follow the rules and ask any questions you may have and we will all have a good time.
*Please do not change your nomination once people have seconded it. It is not fair to those who seconded, the nominee, or me.
Now then.
First off, we have three categories which require no nominations, as the results are quite apparent already. Without those nominated in these categories, WOWAY would be nothing. These people are the reason why WOWAY is still up and running today. The categories are........

Those are all the nominees for these three categories. There is no need to nominate any more or second any of these as they are all already official nominations.
Now, on to the nominate-able categories!
Today's categories are:
Best Avatar - An avatar tells us who a WOWAY member is as a person. It is the little picture that accompanies every post on WOWAY. It is usually how we identify the author of the post and lets us know if we actually want to read that post or skip over it. This award goes to the forum member who has clearly had the best avatar on WOWAY during the period of eligibility.
Best Signature - The signature is arguably the most important part of any given member's post. If done correctly, a signature generally leaves a deep impact upon the reader, allowing them to step back and take a minute to reflect upon their life. A signature is the final note which follows every post and serves as a sign-off for the post's author. A great signature may make us laugh, cry, and move us deeply. This award will be presented to the forum member who has made best use of the signature space.

Please remember the above rules - you may only post one nomination per category, please "second" nominations by "liking" the posts, and as long as the avatar/signature happened between November 16, 2009 and August 5, 2014, it is eligible!!!
