terpsichore wrote: confession time: i skipped over this song the first zillion times i listened to MF, because i hate the original "radioactive" (and everything else by Imagine Dragons) with the fiery pasion of a thousand suns. i was like no no no, as brilliant as Al is, i cannot deal with a song that even remotely sounds like something by Imagine Dragons.

and then i finally listened to the parody, and had the same reaction as you to the vocals - his voice is so beautiful that i kinda didn't even mind that it was basically Radioactive. :P

Weird Al: making crappy songs better since 1979!
Terpsichore, you keep making brillo (brilliant) posts that I just can't seem to make a post without quoting you in it!
When I achieve a major number of posts, I will make sure I credit you for a good chunk of them. :foil:

Anyway, THAT is how I felt about 'Word Crimes'!
I thought "Oh gawd no, Robin Thicke?? NO WAY ew that song uuggh."

And then when the video for Word Crimes dropped, I watched, and just sat in amazement...
...at how much better it is, and sexier than Blurred Lines could ever HOPE to be. (OK, OK, taking this to the Drool topic now...)

Back to 'Inactive':
Al's voice DOES have a way of transforming a song's instrumentals to somehow sound SO MUCH BETTER. I want to listen to the original Radioactive now to compare, and sit and reel in amazement of how Al just turned it into a trance-y, dreamy song, in spite of the subject matter of the parody.

He does such a good job singing it, in fact, that I can't even visualize a music video that fits the lyrics! O_O
I try to imagine an inactive, slug-tastic, lazy, chunky Al, and go...

"...Naw, this is like some bad "Fat" remix video. But... I should stay true to the parody!! Aahhh Al why do you have to be so dreamy?? *conflict conflict*"

OOOOOOOOOHH.

ZING! XD

I still say....aaaarg this song. Al does something to it where he renders it into a TOTALLY different sort of mood than 'Radioactive', aside from the parody's subject matter.

Love handles are a name for the belly fat that hangs to each side. It happens to people who get no exercise.

A criminally underrated song. I really like it. (even though it has a lot of flaws.)
